COMPREHENSIVE TEST OF BASIC SKILLS<br />
(CTBS/5)<br />
The Comprehensive Test <strong>of</strong> Basic Skills (CTBS/5) is a nationally standardized<br />
achievement test administered to all students in grades 3, 6, and 9. (Reading,<br />
language and math tests were administered.) Scores are reported in Mean Normal<br />
Curve Equivalents (NCEs. An NCE ranges from 1 to 99 with an average <strong>of</strong> 50.)<br />
These scores compare a student’s performance to a national norm group. NCE’s<br />
are used in these reports because they can be averaged and compared over time.<br />
