Unreserved Business College Council 1 December 2003 827. May Ball 2005 – Survey of Student Community Mr Day undertook to ensure a paper is presented to Council concerning the 2005 and future May Balls, showing the results of a survey to be conducted of the student community to establish if May Balls are favoured over Events, and to also include information as to numbers of Jesus College students attending previous May Balls and Events as well as total attendance figures. 828. North Court: Report of College Project Board Through the Master, Council received the first report of the College Project Board prepared by the Domestic Bursar. 829. Unreserved Business College Council 1 December 2003 830. Student Affairs Committee Council received the unconfirmed minutes of the meeting of the Student Affairs Committee held on 3 November 2003. 831. Bursarial Committee Council received the unconfirmed minutes of the unreserved business of the meeting of the Bursarial Committee held on 17 November 2003. 832. Request for Sponsorship: The Tenth International Congress on Mathematical Education (B.5298) On the recommendation of the Bursarial Committee, Council declined the request from the Joint Mathematical Council of the United Kingdom to sponsor United Kingdom participants in the Congress. 833. North Court and Related Projects (B.5301(a)) Council noted that the total costs for North Court, the workshop compound, the extension of the cricket pavilion (to provide new changing facilities) and the relocation of the College bar had risen from an estimated £9,586,000 to £10,712,000, brought about by the following: (a) initial costs had been based on sketches which have now been developed to full plans and the costs reflect this higher level of definition combined with various improvements on the original, such as the enlargement of the extension to the pavilion to accommodate more than thirty players at any one time and this has, in turn, increased the cost of providing showers and other services; (b) in line with customer expectation and the long term benefit in terms of durability and running costs, the quality of finishes has been improved from those originally planned; and (c) the amount of £542,000 of College Direct Costs were not included within the Henry Riley spreadsheet (much of these were identified in the original paper submitted to Council and following completion of the projects certain of the external properties can be sold and this should enable a large part of these costs to be recovered). On the recommendation of the Bursarial Committee and subject to the North Court Project Board being satisfied with the detailed proposals, Council approved the expenditure of £10,712,000. 834. Charitable Donations Committee Council received the unconfirmed minutes of the meeting of the Charitable donations Committee held on 20 November 2003 and, (a) noted the following regular payments: Annual distribution approved by Council £8,695.00 Regular Uncommitted £ Perse School for Girls Appeal 250.00 Perse Millennium Campaign 250.00 Hills Road Sixth Form College 250.00 3
