The Qur'anic Model as depicted in this chart has profound implications for the
methodology and theory of the discipline of Islamic economics. These implications will
be examined in a series of forthcoming research papers. The bottom of the chart
highlights some of these issues, e.g., the iman function as the center of the Islamic
theory of rationality, the ideal 'types' in the Weberian sense as a methodological
apparatus, and conformity by all Muslims to the behavioral tenets of the normative iman
'action set', as the objective of socio-economic policy.
