March and April 2012 Grand Jury Indictments<br />
The <strong>County</strong> <strong>of</strong> Kaua'i Office <strong>of</strong> the Prosecuting Attorney announces the following indictments<br />
from the March and April 2012 Grand Jury Sessions:<br />
The Grand Jury returned a nine count indictment against Philip<br />
Papagayo, Jr., alleging that on April 30, 2009, Papagayo committed<br />
the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> one count <strong>of</strong> Place to Keep a Firearm Other than a<br />
Pistol or Revolver, two counts <strong>of</strong> Reckless Endangering in the First<br />
Degree and six counts <strong>of</strong> Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree<br />
by firing a rifle in a manner that placed individuals in danger <strong>of</strong><br />
death or serious bodily injury and by making threats by word or<br />
conduct with the intent to terrorize. The Court issued a bench<br />
warrant for Papagayo’s arrest and set bail in the amount <strong>of</strong> $50K.<br />
Philip Papagayo, Jr.<br />
The Grand Jury returned a five count indictment against William K.<br />
Puulei, alleging that on October 13, 2011, Puulei committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second<br />
Degree, Attempted Extortion in the Third Degree and two counts <strong>of</strong><br />
Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree by taking the property <strong>of</strong><br />
another with the use or threat <strong>of</strong> force, both with and without a<br />
dangerous instrument, and threatening others while armed with a<br />
knife. Puulei’s case is set for Arraignment and Plea on April 4,<br />
2012. He remains in custody at KCCC with bail set at $20,000.00.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a six count indictment against Kurt<br />
Ventura, alleging that on March 12, 2012, Ventura committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> three counts each <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Harmful Drug in the<br />
First Degree and Unlawful Use <strong>of</strong> Drug Paraphernalia by possessing<br />
Oxandralone, testosterone, and drug paraphernalia. The Court<br />
issued a bench warrant for Ventura’s arrest and set bail in the<br />
amount <strong>of</strong> $18,000.00.<br />
Kurt Ventura<br />
The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Daniel<br />
Kiilau-Pezario, alleging that on June 4, 2010, he committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree by threatening<br />
bodily injury to another while armed with a knife. His case is set<br />
for jury trial on August 6, 2012. He remains in custody at KCCC<br />
with bail set at $5,000.00.<br />
Daniel Kiilau-Pezario<br />

The Grand Jury returned a six count indictment against Matthew J.<br />
Warner, alleging that on February 25, 2012, Warner committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Place to Keep a Pistol or Revolver, Ownership or<br />
Possession Prohibited <strong>of</strong> Any Firearm or Ammunition by a Person<br />
Convicted <strong>of</strong> Certain Crimes, Harassment and three counts <strong>of</strong><br />
Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree by threatening<br />
individuals while armed with a firearm and illegally possessing a<br />
firearm as a convicted felon. The Court issued a bench warrant for<br />
Warner’s arrest and set bail in the amount <strong>of</strong> $14,050.00.<br />
Matthew J. Warner
Mitchell Joseph Nakamura<br />
The Grand Jury returned a three count indictment against Mitchell<br />
Joseph Nakamura, alleging that on March 25, 2012, Nakamura<br />
committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Burglary in the First Degree,<br />
Unauthorized Entry Into a Dwelling and Violation <strong>of</strong> an Order <strong>of</strong><br />
Protection by unlawfully entering the dwelling <strong>of</strong> another with the<br />
intent to commit a crime against a person and/or property rights, and<br />
in doing so he violated a prior Order <strong>of</strong> Protection. Nakamura’s<br />
case is set for jury trial on August 6, 2012. He remains in custody at<br />
KCCC with bail set at $50,000.00.<br />
Jacob Brun<br />
The Grand Jury returned a six count indictment against Jacob Brun<br />
and Reid Yoshioka, alleging that on December 27, 2011 Brun and<br />
Yoshioka committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Carrying or Use <strong>of</strong> a Firearm<br />
in the Commission <strong>of</strong> a Separate Felony, Place to Keep Loaded<br />
Firearm, Carrying or Possessing Loaded Firearm on a Public<br />
Highway, Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree,<br />
Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree, and Unlawful<br />
Use <strong>of</strong> Drug Paraphernalia. A warrant was issued for Brun and<br />
Yoshioka’s arrests.<br />
Reid Yoshioka
The Grand Jury returned a three count indictment against Sean LK<br />
Cruz-Kamanuwai, alleging that on October 9, 2011 Cruz-<br />
Kamanuwai committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Theft in the Second Degree,<br />
Criminal Property Damage in the First Degree, and Criminal<br />
Property Damage in the Second Degree by stealing a cell phone and<br />
damaging the rear windshield <strong>of</strong> a car and placing another in danger<br />
<strong>of</strong> death or serious bodily injury. A warrant was issued for Cruz-<br />
Kamanuwai’s arrest with bail set at $1,100.00.<br />
Sean LK Cruz-Kamanuwai<br />
The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Stephen T.<br />
Crandell, alleging that on March 24, 2012 Crandell committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Assault in the Second Degree by causing substantial<br />
bodily injury to another. A warrant was issued for Crandell’s arrest<br />
with bail set at $1,000.00.<br />
Stephen T. Crandell<br />
The Grand Jury returned a two count indictment against James M.<br />
Rodelo, alleging that on June 25, 2011 Rodelo committed the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Burglary in the First Degree and Assault in the First<br />
Degree by unlawfully entering a dwelling and causing serious<br />
bodily injury to another. A warrant was issued for Rodelo’s arrest.<br />
James M. Rodelo
The Grand Jury returned a nine count indictment against Daniel<br />
Ikaika Hebron-Woodward, alleging that on March 19, 2012<br />
Hebron-Woodward committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Burglary in the First<br />
Degree, Unauthorized Entry in a Dwelling in the Second Degree,<br />
three counts <strong>of</strong> Harassment, two counts <strong>of</strong> Sexual Assault in the<br />
Third Degree, Attempted Sexual Assault in the First Degree, and<br />
Sexual Assault in the First Degree. A warrant was issued for<br />
Hebron-Woodward’s arrest with bail set at $50,000.00.<br />
Daniel Ikaika Hebron-Woodward<br />
The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Frank<br />
Albert Medeiros, alleging that on March 12, 2012 Medeiros<br />
committed the <strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree<br />
by threatening to cause bodily injury to another with a chainsaw. A<br />
warrant was issued for Medeiros’ arrest with bail set at $7,000.00.<br />
