February 2012 Grand Jury Indictments
The County of Kaua'i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney announces the following indictments
from the February 2012 Grand Jury Sessions:
The Grand Jury returned an eight count indictment against Wayne
Perreira, Jr., alleging that on November 10, 2011, Perreira
committed the offenses of one count of Methamphetamine
Trafficking in the Second Degree, one count of Promoting a
Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, three counts of Promoting a
Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree and three counts of Unlawful
Use of Drug Paraphernalia by distributing and possessing
methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia. Perreira’s
case is set for jury trial on June 12, 2012.
Wayne Perreira, Jr.
The Grand Jury returned a twenty-one count indictment against
Bronson Balino, alleging that on November 10, 2011, Balino
committed the offenses of one count of Promoting a Dangerous
Drug in the Second Degree, ten counts of Promoting a Dangerous
Drug in the Third Degree, nine counts of Unlawful Use of Drug
Paraphernalia and three counts of Promoting a Detrimental Drug in
the Third Degree by possessing methamphetamine, oxycontin,
oxycodone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Balino’s case is set
for jury trial on July 2, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a six count indictment against Gregory
Perreira, alleging that on December 14, 2011, Perreira committed
the offenses of two counts each of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in
the Third Degree and Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia, as well
as one count of Driving without a License and Resisting an Order
to Stop Motor Vehicle by possessing methamphetamine and drug
paraphernalia. Perreira’s case is set for jury trial on June 4, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a nine count indictment against Mahealani
Akuna (aka Cabbab, Kamauna-Goodwin, Goodwin), alleging that
in early January 2012, she committed the offenses of two counts
each of Credit Card Theft, Fraudulent Use of Credit Card,
Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information and
Theft in the Fourth Degree, and one count of Theft in the Second
Degree by stealing and then using the credit card of another. Her
case is set for jury trial on May 21, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a three count indictment against Shauna
Castle, alleging that on December 21, 2011, Castle committed the
offenses of Unauthorized Entry into the Motor Vehicle in the First
Degree, Assault in the Third Degree and Terroristic Threatening in
the Second Degree by unlawfully entering the vehicle of another,
threatening to injure and then injuring said person. Castle’s case is
set for jury trial on May 29, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a twenty-five count indictment against
Shane D. Johnson, alleging that on December 19, 2011, Johnson
committed the offenses of two counts of Promoting a Dangerous
Drug in the First Degree, twenty counts of Promoting a Dangerous
Drug in the Third Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of Drug
Paraphernalia and one count of Commercial Promoting of
Marijuana by Possessing more than thirty pounds of peyote and
more than five pounds of marijuana. Johnson’s case is set for jury
trial on June 12, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a five count indictment against Enjoli
Jovan Chappybarnes, alleging that on December 5, 2011,
Chappybarnes committed the offenses of Inattention to Driving,
Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant, Escape
in the First Degree, Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in
the Second Degree and Refusal to Submit to Breath, Blood or
Urine Test. Chappybarnes’ case is set for jury trial on June 25,
2012.

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Franklin L.
Parraga, alleging that on December 15, 2011, Parraga committed
the offenses of Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver by unlawfully
carrying or possessing a pistol or revolver. Parraga’s case is set for
jury trial on May 21, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a four count indictment against Morcillo,
alleging that on December 9, 2011, Morcillo committed the
offenses of two counts each of Theft in the Second Degree and
Negotiating a Worthless Negotiable Instrument by unlawfully
cashing two checks and receiving $1,000.00. Morcillo’s case is set
for jury trial on May 21, 2012.

The Grand Jury also returned a two count indictment against
Morcillo, alleging that on December 3, 2012, Morcillo committed
the offenses of Unauthorized Entry Into Motor Vehicle and Theft in
the Fourth Degree by stealing a vehicle battery. Morcillo’s case is
set for jury trial on June 4, 2012.
The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Aaron
Fowler, alleging that on December 18, 2011, Fowler committed the
offense of Burglary in the First Degree by unlawfully entering the
dwelling of another with the intent to commit a felony. Fowler’s
case is set for jury trial on April 23, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Alfred
Caley, alleging that on January 27, 2012, Caley committed the
offense of Theft in the Second Degree by stealing cash and
property in an amount in excess of $300.00 from a local business.
Caley’s case is set for jury trial on May 21, 2012.

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against David
Bagano, alleging that on September 4, 2010, Bagano committed the
offense of Prohibited Acts Related to Controlled Substance by
obtaining or attempting to obtain oxycodone by forgery or
alteration of a prescription. A warrant was issued for Bagano’s
arrest and bail was set in the amount of $1,000.00.

The Grand Jury returned a seven count indictment against Samuel
Morgan Shaw, alleging that on February 19, 2012, Shaw
committed the offenses of two counts each of Criminal Property
Damage in the First Degree and Abuse of Family or Household
Members, and one count each of Unauthorized Entry Into Motor
Vehicle in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and
Interference with the Reporting of an Emergency or Crime by
assaulting and abusing family or household members and
interfering with the reporting of said crimes. Shaw’s case is set for
jury trial on May 29, 2012.

Rick Trinque
The Grand Jury returned a four count indictment against Rick
Trinque and Miles Martinez, alleging that in March of 2009, both
committed the offenses of two counts of Commercial Promotion of
Marijuana in the First Degree and two counts of Unlawful Use of
Drug Paraphernalia by possessing, cultivating or controlling 100 or
more marijuana plants and possessing drug paraphernalia. Their
cases are set for jury trial on July 16, 2012.
