February 2012 Grand Jury Indictments<br />

The <strong>County</strong> <strong>of</strong> Kaua'i Office <strong>of</strong> the Prosecuting Attorney announces the following indictments<br />

from the February 2012 Grand Jury Sessions:<br />

The Grand Jury returned an eight count indictment against Wayne<br />

Perreira, Jr., alleging that on November 10, 2011, Perreira<br />

committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> one count <strong>of</strong> Methamphetamine<br />

Trafficking in the Second Degree, one count <strong>of</strong> Promoting a<br />

Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree, three counts <strong>of</strong> Promoting a<br />

Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree and three counts <strong>of</strong> Unlawful<br />

Use <strong>of</strong> Drug Paraphernalia by distributing and possessing<br />

methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia. Perreira’s<br />

case is set for jury trial on June 12, 2012.<br />

Wayne Perreira, Jr.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a twenty-one count indictment against<br />

Bronson Balino, alleging that on November 10, 2011, Balino<br />

committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> one count <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Dangerous<br />

Drug in the Second Degree, ten counts <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Dangerous<br />

Drug in the Third Degree, nine counts <strong>of</strong> Unlawful Use <strong>of</strong> Drug<br />

Paraphernalia and three counts <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Detrimental Drug in<br />

the Third Degree by possessing methamphetamine, oxycontin,<br />

oxycodone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Balino’s case is set<br />

for jury trial on July 2, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a six count indictment against Gregory<br />

Perreira, alleging that on December 14, 2011, Perreira committed<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts each <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Dangerous Drug in<br />

the Third Degree and Unlawful Use <strong>of</strong> Drug Paraphernalia, as well<br />

as one count <strong>of</strong> Driving without a License and Resisting an Order<br />

to Stop Motor Vehicle by possessing methamphetamine and drug<br />

paraphernalia. Perreira’s case is set for jury trial on June 4, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a nine count indictment against Mahealani<br />

Akuna (aka Cabbab, Kamauna-Goodwin, Goodwin), alleging that<br />

in early January 2012, she committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts<br />

each <strong>of</strong> Credit Card Theft, Fraudulent Use <strong>of</strong> Credit Card,<br />

Unauthorized Possession <strong>of</strong> Confidential Personal Information and<br />

Theft in the Fourth Degree, and one count <strong>of</strong> Theft in the Second<br />

Degree by stealing and then using the credit card <strong>of</strong> another. Her<br />

case is set for jury trial on May 21, 2012.<br />

Mahealani Akuna, aka<br />

Cabbab, Kamauna-Goodwin,<br />

Goodwin<br />

The Grand Jury returned a three count indictment against Shauna<br />

Castle, alleging that on December 21, 2011, Castle committed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Unauthorized Entry into the Motor Vehicle in the First<br />

Degree, Assault in the Third Degree and Terroristic Threatening in<br />

the Second Degree by unlawfully entering the vehicle <strong>of</strong> another,<br />

threatening to injure and then injuring said person. Castle’s case is<br />

set for jury trial on May 29, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a twenty-five count indictment against<br />

Shane D. Johnson, alleging that on December 19, 2011, Johnson<br />

committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Dangerous<br />

Drug in the First Degree, twenty counts <strong>of</strong> Promoting a Dangerous<br />

Drug in the Third Degree, two counts <strong>of</strong> Unlawful Use <strong>of</strong> Drug<br />

Paraphernalia and one count <strong>of</strong> Commercial Promoting <strong>of</strong><br />

Marijuana by Possessing more than thirty pounds <strong>of</strong> peyote and<br />

more than five pounds <strong>of</strong> marijuana. Johnson’s case is set for jury<br />

trial on June 12, 2012.<br />

Shane D. Johnson<br />

The Grand Jury returned a five count indictment against Enjoli<br />

Jovan Chappybarnes, alleging that on December 5, 2011,<br />

Chappybarnes committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Inattention to Driving,<br />

Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence <strong>of</strong> an Intoxicant, Escape<br />

in the First Degree, Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in<br />

the Second Degree and Refusal to Submit to Breath, Blood or<br />

Urine Test. Chappybarnes’ case is set for jury trial on June 25,<br />

2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Franklin L.<br />

Parraga, alleging that on December 15, 2011, Parraga committed<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver by unlawfully<br />

carrying or possessing a pistol or revolver. Parraga’s case is set for<br />

jury trial on May 21, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a four count indictment against Morcillo,<br />

alleging that on December 9, 2011, Morcillo committed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts each <strong>of</strong> Theft in the Second Degree and<br />

Negotiating a Worthless Negotiable Instrument by unlawfully<br />

cashing two checks and receiving $1,000.00. Morcillo’s case is set<br />

for jury trial on May 21, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury also returned a two count indictment against<br />

Morcillo, alleging that on December 3, 2012, Morcillo committed<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> Unauthorized Entry Into Motor Vehicle and Theft in<br />

the Fourth Degree by stealing a vehicle battery. Morcillo’s case is<br />

set for jury trial on June 4, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Aaron<br />

Fowler, alleging that on December 18, 2011, Fowler committed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Burglary in the First Degree by unlawfully entering the<br />

dwelling <strong>of</strong> another with the intent to commit a felony. Fowler’s<br />

case is set for jury trial on April 23, 2012.<br />

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against Alfred<br />

Caley, alleging that on January 27, 2012, Caley committed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Theft in the Second Degree by stealing cash and<br />

property in an amount in excess <strong>of</strong> $300.00 from a local business.<br />

Caley’s case is set for jury trial on May 21, 2012.<br />

Alfred Caley<br />

The Grand Jury returned a one count indictment against David<br />

Bagano, alleging that on September 4, 2010, Bagano committed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>fense <strong>of</strong> Prohibited Acts Related to Controlled Substance by<br />

obtaining or attempting to obtain oxycodone by forgery or<br />

alteration <strong>of</strong> a prescription. A warrant was issued for Bagano’s<br />

arrest and bail was set in the amount <strong>of</strong> $1,000.00.<br />

David Bagano<br />

The Grand Jury returned a seven count indictment against Samuel<br />

Morgan Shaw, alleging that on February 19, 2012, Shaw<br />

committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts each <strong>of</strong> Criminal Property<br />

Damage in the First Degree and Abuse <strong>of</strong> Family or Household<br />

Members, and one count each <strong>of</strong> Unauthorized Entry Into Motor<br />

Vehicle in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and<br />

Interference with the Reporting <strong>of</strong> an Emergency or Crime by<br />

assaulting and abusing family or household members and<br />

interfering with the reporting <strong>of</strong> said crimes. Shaw’s case is set for<br />

jury trial on May 29, 2012.<br />

Rick Trinque<br />

The Grand Jury returned a four count indictment against Rick<br />

Trinque and Miles Martinez, alleging that in March <strong>of</strong> 2009, both<br />

committed the <strong>of</strong>fenses <strong>of</strong> two counts <strong>of</strong> Commercial Promotion <strong>of</strong><br />

Marijuana in the First Degree and two counts <strong>of</strong> Unlawful Use <strong>of</strong><br />

Drug Paraphernalia by possessing, cultivating or controlling 100 or<br />

more marijuana plants and possessing drug paraphernalia. Their<br />

cases are set for jury trial on July 16, 2012.<br />
