Since my arrival at the institution, my philosophy has been
that the best way to influence the future success of the design
majors is by spending as much time as possible working
side-by-side with them in the studios and laboratories. I
voluntarily keep open lab sessions on my professional days
during the week, as well as Saturdays and/or Sundays. In
addition to design majors having vital access to studios during
non-class times, they also see me doing my own work, applying
and practicing the same things I discuss with them in class.
Some of my service to the institution has been as follows:
4 terms (including currently) on the University Senate
(Vice-chair); 3 terms on the General Education Committee
(Co-chair); 2 terms on the University Curriculum Committee
(secretary); Chair of Distance Learning Committee, Chair of
Middle States sub-committee on Student Support Services;
Chair and Co-chair of major search committees; and, dozens of
other elected and appointed positions at the School, College
and University levels.Wall Street Journal’s Creative
Leaders competition.
