School Level Essay writing competition on Energy conservation

SCHOOL LEVEL AND STATE LEVEL ESSAY COMPETITION-2010
Energy Management Centre-Kerala is the State Designated Agency (SDA) of BEE to carry out
Energy Conservation activities in Kerala. Fossil fuel sources are fast depleting and there is shortage
of electricity. In order to create Energy Conservation Awareness among school children it is
proposed to conduct a school level and State level <strong>Essay</strong> Competition for school children of class 6 th
to 8 th standard.
The details are as follows:
1. Students can choose any one of the topics mentioned below, which will be announced by the
concerned Principal / Headmaster /Headmistress on the day of the <strong>competition</strong>.
2. The Topics are (a). Energy Efficiency and Climate Change and (b). Role of Energy Efficiency in
Energy Security of India.
3. The <strong>School</strong> <strong>Level</strong> <strong>Essay</strong> Competition is to be held any day between 22 nd September and 14 th
October 2010 in the schools.
4. Students can write either in English or Malayalam.
5. The <strong>Essay</strong> shall be of maximum 500 words and the <strong>competition</strong> shall be of 90 minutes
duration.
6. Participants are to bring the <strong>writing</strong> materials.
7. The Principal/ Headmaster/Headmistress of each school shall select the best two essays and
forward same to :

From among the selected essays from schools, the best 50 essay <strong>writing</strong> competitors will be
called for a State <strong>Level</strong> <strong>Essay</strong> Writing Competition to be held at Thiruvananthapuram on November
14, 2010 (Bal Divas). The venue will be informed later. The best 13 essays will be awarded Cash
Prizes.
1. Copy of Annexure-1 (sample attached herewith) is to be filled up by the participating schools
signed up by the Principal / Headmaster/Headmistress.
Filled up Annexure – 1 is to be returned along with two best essays to EMC-Kerala by 20 th October
2010.
