Key Recommendations for Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Learning and Development<br />
7. Agencies should ensure that members <strong>of</strong> staff have current and ongoing good<br />
quality education in ASD and those agency procedures should incorporate best<br />
practice in ASD.<br />
8. Different pr<strong>of</strong>essional groups and multidisciplinary teams should be given the<br />
opportunity to train together.<br />
9. In addition to workshops and seminars, all pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and parapr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
who are learning new skills should be <strong>of</strong>fered opportunities for practice, coaching<br />
and feedback.<br />
10. Distance learning opportunities should be developed for those working away from<br />
main centres.<br />
11. Priority for pr<strong>of</strong>essional learning and development should be given to those who<br />
provide a specialist or consultancy service and support and education to others.<br />

development should be undertaken. This should include standards for pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
learning and development and competencies for pr<strong>of</strong>essional roles.<br />
