conducted against the recent travel difficulties
resulting from the volcanic ash
dispersions fron Iceland, which at one
stage could have decimated the programme.
Mr. Al Kindy expressed appreciation
to the efforts of the Advisory
Committee and the Organiser, Dr Nick
Coles of Dome Exhibitions. The revised
conference programme was of sufficient
standard and interest that the 135 attendees
who made an outstanding contribution
to the debate and the needs of
implementing Digital Oil Fields technology
in the Middle East and in Abu
Dhabi in particular.
IDOC ’10 was initiated by Mr. Kamal
Morsi, Production & Facilities Engineering
Manager in the Exploration and Pro-
duction Directorate of the Onshore Division
at ADNOC, to assist ADNOC
and its group of companies in the execution
of their plan to automate and operate
the facilities remotely with a
minimum manpower. Mr. Morsi
chaired the first session of the conference
where four interesting technical
case studies were presented; two about
UAE and two about USA experience.
Mr. John Hofland presented ADCO’s
automation and smart field programme.
He was joined in the conference program
by Ahmed Bin Amro of ADCO
who highlighted the implementation of
an Integrated Asset Operating Model for
a Green Field and Dave Cobb of
ADMA-OPCO who spoke on Digital
Oilfield in New Field Developments.
ADNOC joined seven other leading
organizations specialized in Digital Oil
Fields concepts and implementations. A
related exhibition on services and equipment
took place alongside the conference.
