This year the ADB exists 20 years, or 240 months, 7,200
days, 172,800 hours, 10,368,000 minutes.
In the past twenty years, the ADB has organized many
various events, diner & dances and many issues of the
magazine have been published.
Besides the founding of the ADB, these were other
important events 20 years ago: Lee Kuan Yew stepped
aside in 1990 after 31 years in office making way for
Goh Chok Tong as second prime minister of the Republic
of Singapore, the fall of the Berlin wall and German
reunification, resignation of Margaret Thatcher, Iraq
invades Kuwait, Augosto Pinochet leaves the presidency of
Chile and Nelson Mandela was finally released from prison
after twenty-seven years. And where were you 20 years
ago? What was your most important event in 1990?
This year we will celebrate the 20 th anniversary of the
ADB in various ways. We have started with the restyling
of the ADB magazine. From our perspective we have put
together a fresh, modern, glossy business magazine with a
better set up and easier navigation. We have upgraded to
a new design that meets today’s standards. Special thanks
go to Michiel Sengers who has put much of his time and
energy in the restyling of the ADB magazine in the last
couple of months.
In the new, restyled magazine you will still find the
reviews of our events, presentation of organizations,
interviews, know your tax, the green page, not to miss
in Singapore, Embassy info, the column and ADB News.
Besides that, you will find monthly information from the
DutchCham and a festive series of interviews with our
oldest members. You will get more insight in who founded
the ADB, what they organized in the first years, the diner
& dance locations, since when women are allowed to
become member of the ADB, etc.
We are looking forward to your feedback on the new
design of the ADB magazine and hope to celebrate our
20 th anniversary with all our members.
