Attached are portions of my March 3, 1980 memo which wil-1,
exp]ain the label and serj-es numbers used on Beatle product.
I have added to Schedules A, B & F, the tabet used at time
of original release and any changes.

will clarify the situation in regard to the labeling,
1. On producE issued originall-y with a Capitol labe1 :
future printing of Labe1s, start using the APPIe label.
you have any old Apple backdroPs that say rrManufactured
by !ggi!g].,rr use these up first. Once these are used up,
use the standard Apple label that says rrManufactured by
App1e. 'r
2. On product issued originally with the special Apple label
Ehat says ttManufactured by Capitolrr:
Use this special label until you run ouE of backdrops.
Then begin using the regular Apple label.
3. 0n product issued vtith the regular Apple label that states
"Manufactured by Apple'r :
B. NTJMBERING
Continue as is.
Some of the Beatle product has a Capitol number and some has an
Apple number. We are currently assigning $3g]9 numbers to all
new Beatle releases and will continue to do so. Even though we
ffi change from a Capitol label to an Apple label on new
production of old Beatle product (as explained in A.1 above),
we will continue co use the o1d number (even though it is a
Capitol series nurnber).
C. CATALOGING
Marketing will decide how to cacalog Beatle product. It is
permissible for them to lisE all Beatle Product togeEher in
the catalog (regardless of label or number) either (1) under
the Apple label-section or (2) under the reguLar PoP section
or (3) in both pLaces as they may choose.

STJB.IECT:
APPLE ARTI^IORK
This is to remind you that as a matter of practice, Capitol does
not see the artwork on Apple label product (either Beatle or
non-Beatle) until afcer the printing has started and some jackets
have been fabricated.
The procedure is as follows:
1. Apple prepares artvrork and delivers directly co Queens Litho.
2. Queens Litho prepares color transparencies and requests order
for cover princing from Capitol.
3. Capitol places order for covers wiuh Queens Litho and for
fabrication of jackets with fabricacors.
4. Queens Litho sends proof of covers to Capitol.
By the time Capitol sees the proofs in Step 4, considerable quanticies
of covers and some jackets may have been fabricated. While there is
some financial risk in this, it is in my opinion a risk we have to
take due to the nature of Ehe people involved.
