Function<br />
The <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Hub</strong> for <strong>PROFIBUS</strong><br />
provides protocol conversion and<br />
power supply to up to four <strong>PROFIBUS</strong><br />
PA segments.<br />
The Gateway Module transparently<br />
„displays“ PA field devices as DP<br />
slaves on the DP network with up to 12<br />
Mbps. DCS engineering and device<br />
communication is simplified since all<br />
field devices are treated as DP slaves.<br />
Gateways in redundant configuration<br />
can be connected to all simplex DCS<br />
systems. Redundant gateways also<br />
conform to <strong>PROFIBUS</strong> standards for<br />
Flying Redundancy.<br />
A choice of Fieldbus <strong>Power</strong> Supply and<br />
<strong>Power</strong> Conditioner Modules provide up<br />
to 500 mA to each PA segment (Trunk).<br />
Following the High <strong>Power</strong> Trunk<br />
Concept, field-mounted Field Barriers<br />
provide intrinsically safe Spurs for<br />
connection of field devices.<br />
Motherboards for redundancy of power<br />
modules are available for applications<br />
with demand for high availability.<br />
The <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Hub</strong>’s Basic Diagnostic<br />
Module continously monitors conditions<br />
of all modules. A potential-free contact<br />
annunciates summary alarms.<br />
DTM software accesses gateway status<br />
and advanced diagnostic functions from<br />
remote via dedicated bus system or<br />
<strong>PROFIBUS</strong> DP.<br />
Advanced diagnostics monitor PA<br />
physical layer and communication<br />
status and thus expedite start-up and<br />
troubleshooting. Alarming of long-term<br />
degradation enables pro-active action<br />
for increased plant availability.<br />
