Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday 7th August 2010
Mid-morning departure from Heathrow for the
transatlantic scheduled flight via a US Gateway city
and on to Nashville, Tennessee. Coach transfer to
your hotel and the remainder of the evening
at leisure.
FOR AUGUST 2010 we have a choice of two fantastic trips – offering you
the opportunity to commemorate the 33rd Anniversary in either
Memphis, USA or in Bad Nauheim, Germany – both will be great
tours and the day-by-day details of each are provided in this
brochure.
Day 2 – Sunday 8th August
We start the day with a guided sightseeing tour of
Nashville – the Country Music capital of the world.
We’ll see all the major sights and visit the Ryman
Auditorium, home of the Grand Ol’ Opry and on
which stage Elvis appeared, the Country Music Hall of
Fame where you can see Elvis’ famous gold Cadillac
and RCA’s Studio B where Elvis recorded. Remainder
of the afternoon free to explore this amazing city and
Instead of offering an extension option on the USA tour, this year
we’ve included it – but at the start of the tour. So many fans have
said that they’d like to stay in Nashville again with more time to
visit the Grand Ol’ Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and,
especially, Studio B, that we’ve decided to have two nights here
before heading on to Tupelo where there’s even more now for
Elvis fans to enjoy. Finally we drive to Memphis for Elvis Week and
to explore and enjoy the city that Elvis loved so much.
The alternative tour is a visit to Bad Nauheim in Germany where
Elvis lived whilst stationed at the US Army Base in nearby Friedberg.
Each August the local Elvis Fan Club in association with the Bad
Nauheim Tourist Office put on a great Festival in his honour. It features
fan get-togethers, videos/films, an Elvis marketplace, concerts, Cadillac
parade and the atmosphere is fantastic. Bad Nauheim itself is a lovely
spa town set in the heart of the German countryside and those UK
fans that visited there as part of the Luxembourg Tour in 2008 were
mightily impressed by the amount of Elvis sights.
Whichever you choose we know that you’ll just love it – so don’t let
this August pass without joining us on an exciting Elvis holiday.

Day 3 – Monday 9th August
Morning drive south to
Lynchburg and to the Jack
Daniels Distillery for a
fascinating visit and time for
lunch before continuing our
journey, over the Mississippi
State Line and on to Tupelo
and our hotel. Evening free.
Day 4 – Tuesday 10th
August
First on the agenda is a tour
of the Elvis sights of Tupelo –
the town (now a city – albeit
a small one!) where Elvis was
born and lived until he was
13 years old. We’ll see the
schools that he attended,
Tupelo Hardware where his
mother Gladys purchased his
first guitar and other places
significant to his life there. We
end the tour at the Elvis
Presley Birthplace – an impressive and tastefully
landscaped complex housing the tiny ‘shotgun’
wooden home in which he was born, the first church
that he attended, the Elvis Presley Museum, Memorial
Chapel and the Visitor Centre. Afternoon at leisure
during which the coach will operate a shuttle service
between the Birthplace, the Shopping Mall, the hotel,
Tupelo Hardware/Downtown and the Auto Museum.
Dinner, together with local Elvis fans and civic
dignitaries, is included tonight.
Day 5 – Wednesday 11th August
Morning free in Tupelo before departing for the drive
to Memphis and our hotels. This evening and
throughout the remaining time in Memphis our now
famous Shuttle Service will operate between
Downtown and Graceland, serving both hotels and
enabling you to visit these places as often as you wish
and at no extra cost.
Day 6 – Thursday 12th August
Morning’s guided tour of Elvis’ Memphis – showing
you many of the major sights of the city plus places
of particular interest to Elvis fans including where he
lived, where he went to school, where he performed
and lots more besides. We include a visit and tour of
the legendary Sun Studio and end the tour at
Graceland, Elvis’ lovely home where you’ll have a
Platinum Pass allowing you to take the tour of the
mansion as well as the many other exhibits at
Graceland Plaza including Elvis’ aircraft, the auto
museum and Sincerely Elvis. Evening at leisure.
Day 7 to Day 10 – Friday 13th to Monday 16th
August
Another four full days free to enjoy the sights and
sounds of Memphis, to revisit Graceland, to take a
ride on a Mississippi Riverboat, shop for souvenirs,
visit some great museums – including the Cotton
Museum, the Rock & Soul Museum, the National Civil
Rights Museum and the Stax Studio Museum – or
bop your way down Beale Street, the greatest music
street in the world.
During Elvis
Week Elvis

Enterprises will
be arranging
various
activities and
concerts that
you may wish to partake in – no details are available
at the time of preparing this brochure but they will be
sent to you nearer to the tour departure date
together with information as to how to book them.
Day 11 – Tuesday 17th August
Morning free before transferring to the airport to
connect with our flight via a Gateway city and then
overnight to the UK.
Day 12 - Wednesday 18th August
Mid-morning arrival into Heathrow airport.

Bad Nauheim and Friedberg
Day 1 – Thursday 12th August 2010
A choice of travel options – either flying from your
chosen airport direct to Frankfurt where a coach will
transfer you to your hotel in Bad Nauheim or you may
wish to take the longer (but some say
more relaxing!) method by coach and
ferry leaving London in the midmorning
and travelling via the Dover-
Calais ferry, arriving into Bad
Nauheim in the mid-evening.
Needless to say there will be Elvis
music and movies on the coach.
Day 2 – Friday 13th August
Morning’s guided walking tour of Bad Nauheim –
seeing many of the features of this beautiful spa
town but majoring on the Elvis sights – the hotel and
the house where he lived, where he shopped or
relaxed and the sites of some of the now iconic
photo’s that were taken of
him there. Afternoon and
evening at leisure.
During this Elvis Festival
Weekend the local Elvis
Presley Fan Club and the Bad
Nauheim Tourist Office have
arranged a whole
programme of Elvis events
and activities and a schedule of events will be mailed
to you when finalised. This will include a parade of
Cadillacs and other classic cars, Fan get-togethers and
Concerts. In addition many of the shops and bars
become Elvis themed for the weekend as they
welcome Elvis Fans from all over Europe. Our own
itinerary may be amended to fit in with these
activities.
Each day breakfast will be served at the hotel.
Day 3 – Saturday 14th August
Morning visit to nearby Friedberg, and Ray Barracks,
the US Army Base where Elvis was stationed.
Although the Base is now non-operational, a small
part of it will be opened for this weekend to allow
you to take photo’s etc and to get the feel of what it
must have been like.
Time too to take a
stroll through the
delightful small town
of Friedberg, visiting
the shops that Elvis
would have used or
to take a tour of the
historic castle. We
return to Bad
Nauheim via the
village of
Steinfurth (famous
throughout
Germany for its
roses) where Elvis
and a work party from the base
erected a war memorial. Afternoon
and evening at leisure.
Day 4 – Sunday 15th August
Full day at leisure. Time to relax in
the comfort of the hotel, to enjoy the activities of the
Elvis Festival, for further exploration and to visit the
Johannisberg hilltop for splendid views over Bad
Nauheim and the surrounding countryside. Here is the
café where, as the story goes, Elvis signed a tablecloth
for a fan but before he could give it to her the lady
owner of the establishment snatched it off him,
annoyed that he should have ‘defaced’ her clean
cloth, and promptly washed it. What would that be
worth (in memories or value) now?
This evening we have our own Elvis Disco Party at the
Sportheim leisure club, the very club that Elvis hired
for a Christmas party and also for his leaving party –
with German (and fans of all nations) invited along
too.
Day 5 – Monday 16th August
Time to leave – those travelling by coach and boat
will depart in the mid-morning for the drive to Calais
to connect with the early evening ferry to Dover
before travelling on to London arriving in the late
evening. Those travelling by air will be transferred to
Frankfurt for their return flight later that day.

USA Hotels
All of the hotels used on the USA tour
are of First Class standard and all
rooms are air-conditioned, have an en
suite bathroom and hairdryer and
iron/board. The rooms will have one
double bed or two single beds or,
where 3 or more people are sharing,
two double beds.
Doubletree Hotel – Nashville
An impressive hotel in the heart of the
city, it offers superb rooms all with
large flat-screen cable TV, coffee/tea
maker and 2 phones. The hotel has an
indoor pool, fitness centre, a Starbucks
café, restaurant and bar.
Summit Hotel – Tupelo
Recently remodelled all rooms

If you are travelling alone but would like to share
(either for company or to keep the cost down), your
reservation can only be accepted if a similar request is
received from another fan. Should it not be possible
to pair you, you will be offered single accommodation
at the appropriate price or a full refund of monies

rooms all have cable TV, 2 phones and
coffee/tea maker. There is a

Bad Nauheim Hotels
The hotels used are of high
standard and all rooms have
an en suite bathroom. Single
rooms will have one single bed, and
rooms for two persons will have either
one double bed or two single beds or,
as is quite normal in Germany, a double
bed but with separate
mattresses/duvets that they will refer to
as a twin* room. Where 3 or more
people are sharing the room would
have a double or twin bed plus either a
sofa bed or a rollaway bed. Triple room
prices on request.
Best Western Hotel Rosenau
Of moderate First Class
standard all rooms have en
suite bathroom (some singles
with shower only), satellite TV,
minibar and hairdryer. The hotel
has a bar and restaurant as well
as a sauna. Situated approx. 20
minutes (at leisurely walking pace) from
the town centre, a limited free shuttle
service will be provided and taxis are
available at other times.
The Dolce Hotel
Rated Deluxe standard this spa hotel
will be the location for some of the
events of the Elvis Festival. Rooms are
handsomely furnished and all have TV,
2 phones, tea/coffee maker, minibar
and en suite bathroom with hairdryer.
The hotel has an indoor pool, sauna,
steam room, fitness centre and
numerous spa treatments available. The
hotel is situated in the heart of the
town. (Per person suppliment applies –
single £50/Twin £64)

Drinks, meals other than those specified, travel
insurance, and any personal expenses e.g. 'phone
calls, laundry etc.
INSURANCE
It is mandatory that all passengers have sufficient
travel insurance. Passengers without appropriate
travel insurance will not be allowed to travel. We act
as an Authorised Representative of Holiday Extras
Travel Insurance who are authorized and regulated by
the Financial Services Authority. We are pleased to
offer a policy arranged by Holiday Extras (in
cooperation with EuropAssistance). Please telephone
our reservations department on 01473 660800 where
a member of the team will be pleased to arrange
cover for you.
Cover is not effective until the premium has been
paid. Passengers wishing to arrange their own
insurance cover are required to forward a copy of

their Insurance Certificate within 15 days of receipt of
their Holiday Confirmation-Invoice.
FLIGHTS AND TIMINGS
USA
Flights will be in Economy Class on the scheduled
service of KLM/Northwest Airlines departing from
London Heathrow Airport. As there are no direct
flights between London and either Nashville or
Memphis the flights will be via a US ‘Gateway’ city
where US Immigration and Customs formalities will
take place.
Germany
Economy class flights will be on the scheduled service
of British Airways between London Heathrow Airport
and Frankfurt am Main Airport. Should you wish to
book your own flights to/from Frankfurt (from your
local regional airport for instance) then we would be
happy to offer you the ‘package’ but excluding flights
and airport taxes at a discount of £190.
We will provide a limited shuttle service from (and
back to) Frankfurt am Main Airport included in the
cost of your tour. However please note that Frankfurt-
Hahn Airport is actually no-where near Frankfurt so
you should not book flights to there.
Both tours
Baggage allowance is 20kgs (44lbs) per person.
Please note that we have allowed for the combined
airport taxes, security charges and fuel surcharge.
Any increase or decrease in these will be passed on to
the passenger in the form of a supplementary charge
or refund. Flight timings will be shown on your
Confirmation-Invoice although please note that these
are subject to change.
CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
USA - you can expect daytime temperatures in the
80s and 90s Fahrenheit.
Germany – you can expect daytime temperatures in
the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit.
We recommend light-weight casual clothing.

sterling = $1.62 US dollars
and 1.11 euros).
PASSPORTS AND VISAS
A full passport issued by a member state of the
European Union and valid for at least six months after
the date of return to the UK, is required for these
holidays. Visas are not required by British Citizens
travelling to Germany but for the USA tour
providing the passport bears the words 'British
Citizen', or 'Holder has the right of abode in the
United Kingdom' you will be admitted to the United
States under the Visa Waiver Scheme. Please note:
the US Government have amended the Visa Waiver
Scheme and there is now a requirement to preregister
the VWP application on line at least 72 hours
prior to travel. The website for registration is:
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov and applicants will need to
enter the same information they currently enter on
the green VWP form on the aircraft. They will need a
valid email address to receive the 'Authorisation
Approved' document as without this they will be
denied boarding by the airline. The registration is then
valid for 2 years or until the expiry of the passport
(whichever is the sooner).
Holders of other passports (including nationals of
other EU states) should consult the German or US
Embassy (as appropriate) prior to departure for
current visa requirements.
HEALTH
No vaccinations or inoculations are mandatory for
British Subjects. The Department of Health produces
the Health Advice for Travellers booklet (T6) which is
available from your local Post Office or by telephoning
0800 555 777 free of charge.
Passengers travelling to Germany are recommended
to carry an EHIC (European Health Insurance card).
Treatment under EHIC arrangements is only
provided by practitioners within the local Health
Service. If you need to call out a doctor in an
emergency, make it clear you have an EHIC and
that you want to be treated under the EC
arrangements.
The cost of specialist medical treatment is high in
the United States and Germany and passengers are

ecommended to ensure that they carry sufficient
travel insurance to cover any unexpected medical
bills (see above and paragraph 5 of the Reservation
Conditions).
TRAVELLERS WITH DISABILITIES
Arena Travel is happy to welcome passengers with
special needs wherever the appropriate arrangements
can be made. Please note however, that we can only
request such facilities on your behalf if we know your
requirements well in advance. We therefore ask that
anyone suffering from a medical condition or
disability, or simply needing a little extra help during
their holiday, provides full details of their special
requirements. Passengers with a disability must be
accompanied by an able-bodied person who is
willing, and able, to assist them where necessary.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Upon receipt of your payment (and obviously subject
to places being available), you will be sent a
Confirmation-Invoice. Approximately 10 days before
departure, you will be sent your travel wallet
containing tickets, baggage tags, final detailed
itinerary and joining instructions.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
A non-refundable deposit of £225 (USA) and £100
(Germany) (plus the relevant insurance premium if
required) is payable upon booking. The balance is due
not less than 72 days prior to departure.
PAYMENT BY CREDIT/CHARGE CARD
We are pleased to accept payment by MASTERCARD,
VISA or AMEX for all, or part of your holiday cost.

Please note: A 2% surcharge (3% for AMEX) will be
applied to all payments by credit card and Debit
MasterCard. We are also pleased to accept payment
by MAESTRO and DELTA cards. No surcharges apply
