WORD SEARCH 

Stuffed Mushrooms 

Ingredients 

12 large mushrooms (washed and stems 

removed) 

Filling 

1 can of small or broken shrimp, 

drained and rinsed 

8 oz softened cream cheese 

2 green onions chopped 

1 tbsp. lemon juice 

1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 

1/4 tsp. pepper 

Directions 

Stuff the mushroom caps 

Put in pan and bake at 350 for 20 minutes 

This can be done in the oven or the BBQ 

This can be made a day ahead and baked the 

day of the party

NEW SAREPTA 

The New Sarepta Agriplex Open House has 

been postponed until Sunday, September 27th. 

From 4:15-5:15pm, there will be free family 

skating (helmets are mandatory for all skaters). 

There will be complimentary refreshments. 

New Sarepta FCSS is hosting a First Aid with 

CPR Course on October 3-4, 9–4 p.m. in the 

Golden Pioneers Centre (Basement of the New 

Sarepta Village Office). You can register with 

Lucille at 780-941-2382. Cost: $135/person 

(includes all training materials for both days); 

$115/person for re-certification (first day only). 

This course is presented by SOTERA Safety Inc. 

and New Sarepta FCSS. 

A free program, based on the book, “Queen 

Bees and Wannabes” will be held Saturday, 

October 17 and Saturday, October 24 from 

10–noon at the New Sarepta Municipal Library for 

girls (Gr. 7-8) and their moms. Girls registered for 

the program will also attend a Pizza Movie Party 

on October 8 at the library to watch “Mean Girls” 

or “Odd Girl Out”. This honest, open book club 

will explore and confront the real life pressures 

that girls face. Together with their moms, they 

will explore ways to deal with challenging issues 

and how they can, as women, feel empowered to 

stand up for what they believe in. 

Congratulations to the organizers of the annual 

New Sarepta Minor Hockey demolition derby 

held Sept. 13. Close to two thousand people 

turned out to watch a full day action and help the 

association raise thousands of dollars. Winners 

were as follows: Steve Nystrom (open class); 

Stephen Lesoway (trucks); Dawn Nystrom, 

Dennis Levasseur (minis); Melissa Haavind 

(powder puff).

The Hay Lakes community garage

26th, has been cancelled due to a lack of 

interest.

The Camrose Family Resource Centre 

is again hosting its Hay Lakes Parent- 

Tot Playgroup. The drop-in playgroup is

will be featured during the year. The 

playgroup will be held each Monday from 

10am-noon in the Our Saviour Lutheran

One rainy Sunday afternoon, a young 

couple were on their way to their 

church to get married. On the way, 

their car went out of control and slammed into a 

telephone pole – killing them both instantly. The

Hospital changes make the news 

As you’ve no doubt read in the papers, Alberta Health Services will be launching a three-year 

community and acute care plan that increases the number of community living spaces and 

relocates patients from hospital beds to more appropriate care in the community. Most of these 

announced changes will affect Edmonton and Calgary. 

The plan will allow for the transfer of hundreds of patients currently waiting in hospital beds 

for placement into more appropriate care settings as new community living options come on 

stream. The plan will also release about 60 hospital beds this year to relieve emergency 

department pressures. 

Patients who are currently staying in acute care beds, but do not require hospital care, will 

return to their communities. They will be moved to supportive living facilities or long-term care 

facilities or their homes with the help of home care. To accommodate these moves, 776 new 

community living spaces will be created. 

Alberta Health Services also announced an agreement with Covenant Health to open 150 

community beds next May at Villas Caritas. Discussions on community living capacity, in 

addition to the 150 Villa Caritas beds, are ongoing and other openings will be announced as 

agreements are negotiated.
