Camping on <strong>District</strong>-managed<br />

areas requires a free permit. A<br />

camping application is available on the<br />

<strong>District</strong>’s web site or can be obtained<br />

by contacting the Land Resources<br />

Department at 1-800-423-1476, ext.<br />

4470. Ten days notification prior<br />

to camping is required to ensure<br />

availability of sites. See individual<br />

tract profiles for site-specific camping<br />

information.<br />

Group Camp Areas<br />

Usually have picnic tables, grills<br />

or fire rings, a non-potable water<br />

source and portable toilets; primitive,<br />

non-electric camping in small trailers,<br />

pop-up campers and tents is typically<br />

allowed; some group areas are <strong>also</strong><br />

available for equestrian camping.<br />

Equestrian Camp Areas<br />

Primitive camping with tents or<br />

horse trailer camping rigs; typically have<br />

non-potable water and portable toilets<br />

availableforusebythecampers;no<br />

other types of camping rigs are allowed<br />

in these areas.<br />

Primitive Camp Areas<br />

Small cleared areas that are<br />

accessible only by trails or water<br />

bodies; provide unique opportunities<br />

for visitors desiring a remote camping<br />

experience; typically do not have any<br />

facilities or water sources; visitors are<br />

expected to pack in-pack out all their<br />

own supplies.<br />

Full-Service Camp Areas<br />

The <strong>District</strong> has partnered with<br />

local governments to provide both<br />

full-service camp areas with water and<br />

electricity and primitive camp areas for<br />

traditional camping rigs on some of its<br />

conservation lands. Information about<br />

reservations,fees,typesofcampers<br />

allowed and site availability can be<br />

obtained by contacting the cooperator<br />

directly (contact information on tract<br />

profile).<br />
