About the Property<br />

Still primarily natural, the property is a mixture<br />

of pine flatwoods, freshwater marshes and oak<br />

scrub forest. The western portions contain some<br />

of the oldest and largest trees in the area. The<br />

boundary of <strong>this</strong> property extends over three miles<br />

along the eastern floodplain of the Withlacoochee<br />

River.<br />

The property was acquired to protect and<br />

preserve pristine river corridor along the<br />

Withlacoochee River and adjoining floodplain<br />

system. Preservation of <strong>this</strong> property protects<br />

forested swamps and adjoining upland buffers<br />

important to the water resources and water quality<br />

of the river system.<br />

Access and Parking<br />

• Day-use parking at Marsh Bend County Park<br />

adjacent to property.<br />

• Walk-thrus located off CR 470 and CR 315.<br />

Hours of Operations<br />

Daily from sunrise to sunset.<br />

Restroom facilities available at Marsh Bend<br />

County Park, but no water.<br />

Public boat launch, paved parking and picnic<br />

tables offered at adjoining park.<br />

Fishing<br />

• Available along Withlacoochee and Outlet rivers.<br />

• Contact <strong>Florida</strong> Fish and Wildlife Conservation<br />

Commission for license requirements.<br />

Hiking<br />

• Several miles of woods roads suitable for day<br />

hiking. Dry winter months most suitable for<br />

hiking since majority of lands are low and<br />

subject to seasonal flooding.<br />

• No designated hiking trails or trail markers.<br />

Picnic tables offered at adjoining park.<br />
