School Photo Essay
By Brad Butts, Sarah
Goodrich, and Rachel Roden
We visited your school, Alta Sita Elementary, on October 17, 2003. We
recorded our activities by taking pictures so we could share them with you
later. In our first activity, we made three lists about your favorite Alta Sita
people, your favorite Alta Sita places to visit, and your least favorite Alta
Sita places to visit. Everyone participated and had fun while we wrote
your ideas down on the board.
Next, we asked you all to draw a picture of the following things: “what I like best about
Alta Sita”, “what I don’t like about Alta Sita”, “my dream neighborhood”, and a self
portrait. You all worked hard on your pictures and did a good job.
Everyone divided their paper into four sections in order
to draw their four different pictures.
We walked around the classroom and helped you
finish your drawings.
Sarah helps a student with his drawing.
After you all finished your pictures, we asked you to come to the front and explain
what you drew. Rachel held the pictures while you all explained them. Everyone did a
great job.
Everyone did a terrific job explaining their work.
Everyone did a very good job on their pictures and the lists you made were very helpful
to us. When you all finished explaining your drawings, everyone was rewarded with
snacks for their participation and hard work.
Finally, you all posed for a picture with your teacher, Mrs. Smith. We would like to
thank all of you for participating and for letting us come speak to you.
We would like to thank you all once again
for helping us with these activities. You all
did a wonderful job, and we had a great
time speaking to you. We hope you had a
good time also!
