• Annual Conference events, such as the tutorials, three-day
Annual Conference sessions, and the Exhibit Hall will be held
at the Washington State Convention Center.
• You must indicate you are with the SDMS group when making
your hotel reservation in order to receive the discounted group rate.
• To take advantage of these special rates, your hotel reservations
must be made by August 26, 2012. Any requests received after
this date will be handled on a space/rate available basis. To

Registration
A 3-day Conference Registration includes all courses Friday
through Sunday, the Exhibit Hall Grand Opening, the Saturday
evening Sock Hop at the Space Needle, refreshment breaks,
Exhibit Hall admittance, and a copy of the 2012 SDMS Annual
Conference Proceedings CD. The Friday evening SDMS and SDMS
Foundation Awards Dinner at the Seattle Sheraton Hotels is
an additional $50 (RSVP by August 17 REQUIRED). Guest
tickets are available for purchase for both the Friday Night Awards
Dinner and the Saturday Night SDMS Space Needle Sock Hop.

Registry Review Tutorial! NEW Vascular and
General Sonography Break Out Sessions!
This year will mark the second annual SDMS Registry
Review course. The session will be held on Thursday,
September 20. The course will be broken into five 90
minute sessions. In the morning, all participants will
attend Physics and Instrumentation and Doppler/
Hemodynamics. In the afternoon the course will break
into two sections. General (Abdomen, Obstetrics and
Gynecological) Sonography will be covered in one
section while the other section will focus on Vascular
(Cerebrovascular, Arterial, and Venous and Abdominal
Vasculature) Sonography.
The course will provide a broad overview of the topics to
help individuals who are in the process of preparing for
the registry exams. Topics selected for presentation are
aligned with major outline topics in the SDMS series of
National Certification Examination Review (NCER) registry
review books. While the attendees are not required to
purchase the NCER books, they will be useful during
the course and as valuable take-away resources. NCERs
can be purchased at www.sdms.org/store. For optimal
learning from this course, it is expected the attendee will
have a foundation in normal anatomy and physiology,
instrumentation, and scan techniques. Switching in and
out of this course will not be permitted. Only 100 spaces
available, register now!
Annual Conference Grants A limited number of
financial assistance grants have been made available
by the SDMS Foundation this year. To receive

Intended Audience The SDMS Annual Conference
is primarily designed for sonographers, students and
physicians who use sonography in their practice. The
educational program provides knowledge and skills
in new sonographic techniques, diagnostic accuracy,
enhancements of sonographic instrumentation, and
practice management strategies.
Learning Objectives After participating in the Annual Conference,
participants should be able to:
• Describe new sonographic techniques and technological
improvements to enhance visualization of pathology.
• Recognize normal and abnormal pathology based on sonographic
examination.
• Outline practice management strategies to enhance sonographic
clinical operations and enhance overall patient satisfaction.
