OFID and UNIDO<br />
The <strong>OPEC</strong> Fund for International Development (OFID) is looking to<br />
establish concrete cooperation and collaboration with the United Nations<br />
Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which, like the institution,<br />
is also based in the Austrian capital, Vienna.<br />

when UNIDO Director-<br />
General, Kandeh K Yumkella,<br />
paid an official visit to OFID’s Headquarters<br />
recently for talks with his counterpart,<br />
Suleiman J Al-Herbish, and selected<br />
staff.<br />
Yumkella, who led a seven-member<br />
team on his visit, saw a presentation<br />
of OFID’s policies, projects and programmes.<br />
Four major areas of cooperation<br />
were identified, including the possible<br />
joint organization of a roundtable on<br />
South-South cooperation, to be staged<br />
during the next session of the Crans<br />
Montana Forum, scheduled for <strong>Jun</strong>e.<br />
Secondly, UNIDO’s technical contribution<br />
to an OFID Energy Workshop<br />
in Abuja, Nigeria, was welcomed. In the<br />
