HIGH QUALITY
• Individually QC Tested
• Batch-to-Batch Reproducibility
Our commitment to quality is what makes Zebron the #1 fastest
growing GC column on the market. Each and every column
you receive will be individually QC tested by an experienced
technician. To ensure quality we evaluate important features
such as bleed, activity, retention, efficiency and peak shape.
Our initial results with the column are very good. Resolution of our standards
which include many isomers have improved by 5-15%. We also noticed that
column bleed is less than the HP column we used for years.
the heaviest compounds are still detected and easily quantified.
HIGH TEMPERATURE STABLE
• Analyze High MW Compounds
• Bake Off Matrix Contaminants
• Shorten Run Times
The first question that people always ask is, “why does your
column have such a high upper temperature limit compared
to everyone else?” The technical answer is our proprietary
bonding process called Engineered Self Cross-Linking (ESC).
By carefully fractionating our base polymer, and using
aggressive cross-linking catalysts, we produce a column that
resists thermal degradation. What this means to you is that
Zebron is so stable, most of the time it isn’t the polymer that
breaks down, but the polyimide coating on the outside of the
column.
Butter Triacylglycerides
Carrier Gas: Constant Flow Helium 8.0 mL/min
Oven Program: 60°C to 400°C at 20°C
Detection: MS @ 250°C; 21-1200amu
This application was submitted by a chemical
company in New York that uses 5m sections of
a ZB-5 column to analyze compounds with MW
>800amu! We are even impressed by the fact he
routinely performs analysis that go up to 400°C!
Now we don’t recommend this for everyone, but
the fact is, Zebron is made to last.
IMPROVED LIFETIME AND STABILITY
ZEBRON TECHNOLOGY
• Improved Column Life
• Analyze Dirty Samples
• Save Time and Money
Everyone can show low bleed or reproducible QC chromatograms; those are things we should expect from
a good column manufacturer. The most important thing is how the product performs in “real world” situations!
We wanted to share with you and Phenomenex the great success we had using your Zebron columns. We
used 4 of your ZB-35, 30 meter columns to perform detailed pesticide analysis of soils during environmental
remediation at a former Dept. of Defense facility.
Over the course of 6 months, we analyzed over 6500 samples on 2 GC’s, many of these samples had
‘‘
high
levels of pesticides and we did not use a guard column. Dan Twomey, our senior chemist and Vice President,
personally performed much of the analysis and had nothing but high praise for the durability and consistency
of the columns. We are attaching a photo of the extract vials for the complete project.
The column has lived up to its claim as a cost effective alternative to other columns. The versatility
of the column has allowed us to replace multiple columns. By doing so, time & money are saved
by being able to use the Zebron for multiple tasks. Having a column like this is especially useful in a
contract lab like ours where new products are continually being introduced for testing.
product that will offer as similar chromatography as possible
to the GC column you are currently using.
GC GUARD COLUMNS AND RETENTION GAPS
Z-GUARD COLUMNS
• Individually QC tested to ensure the highest
level of quality
• Extend column lifetime
• Improve separation and peak shapes
(especially early elutors)
• Improve sensitivity and accuracy of
quantitative results
• Available as individual guard columns or as
complete kits with connectors
To ensure that all Z-Guards are the highest possible quality,
we individually test each one! The columns are attached to
a reference Zebron ZB-5 column and are tested using our
specially designed QC mix. We carefully monitor activity, bleed,
and stability. This way, we are able to say with confidence that
Z-Guards will provide the low activity and high quality your
methods require.
Z-Guard Columns will trap non-volatile residues and prevent
them from contaminating your expensive analytical column.
When you must cut the end off the guard column to remove
contaminant buildup, the integrity of your analytical column
remains intact. The fused silica tubing of the guard column is
without stationary phase and deactivated to provide minimal
peak distortion and good wettability for polar as well as
nonpolar compounds. The lifetime of your analytical column
can be significantly increased by the use of a guard column.
Many analysts also use the guard column as a “retention
gap” to improve peak shape and quantitation. These
benefits are especially enhanced when polarity
mismatches between solvent and stationary phase
can’t be avoided, or injection techniques like splitless,
direct or on-column distort peak shape and reduce
sensitivity and quantitative accuracy. The improvement
in analytical results and extended column lifetimes
makes the use of a guard column or retention gap a
smart idea indeed!
ZEBRON TECHNOLOGY
GUARDIAN: INTEGRATED GUARD COLUMNS
GUARDIAN SYSTEM
• Eliminates the potential for leaks
• Extends column life
• Improves analyte focusing for low
boiling compounds
• Aggressively tested to ensure
deactivation
Guardian columns have the 5m or 10m guard built
directly into the analytical column in one continuous
length of tubing. Unlike traditional guard columns, which
are known to be difficult to seal and prone to leaking
after normal column maintenance, the Guardian
system provides the same inert column protection,
but eliminates the possibility of leaks.
The Guardian system is excellent for environmental
samples that rapidly degrade GC column performance
such as EPA method 8270. The Guardian system
allows routine column maintenance to be performed
without worrying about creating leaks or having
to update retention times when the column is cut.
The “worry-free” aspect of the Guardian system
makes it an essential add on to every Zebron ZB-
1ms, ZB-5, and ZB-5ms column you use.
