FMHS <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> 2011<br />

Orientation Programme for New Students<br />

The Orientation Programme was structured into five days, from 23-27 May 2011, to<br />

provide different stages of activities for new students and their families with<br />

information and support to help the students to make a smooth transition to their<br />

study at the <strong>Universiti</strong> <strong>Tunku</strong> <strong>Abdul</strong> <strong>Rahman</strong> (UTAR). The Orientation Programme was<br />

designed to help the new students to gain an understanding of what lied ahead and<br />

provided the students opportunity to discuss the future at UTAR with faculty staffs and<br />

student leaders.<br />

All new students were required to attend the Orientation Programme within a week prior to<br />

their first day of classes at UTAR. The Orientation Programme involved a variety of<br />

activities and presentations, video presentation, orientation briefing, soft skill talks,<br />

President and head of departments in Mass Call<br />

introduction of teaching method, city tour and other activities which were guided by<br />

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences staffs and senior students, and was organised<br />

with contributions from the Department of Students Affair (DSA) to introduce the faculty<br />

and facilities and academic staffs, helping the students to familiarise themselves with<br />

UTAR policies and expectations.<br />
