stores, times that JPs are visiting our centre, centre

more. Of course you can get all the latest information
on the latest marketing campaigns and promotions
on offer in the centre. You can also get an update
on when your favourite charity groups are visiting
the centre, fundraising events in centre, retailer sales
events, special offers for the month by retailers, and
so much more information to make your shopping
experience easy and stress free.

and Northern Busway Information Centre right here
in Centro Lutwyche. The information centre is located
next to the Commonwealth Bank. The information

Please note that our fantastic centre is not going
anywhere as a result of the works being done for the
Airport Link and Northern Busway. Please be reassured
that all our stores will remain open and operating and
our retailers would love to see you in the centre. We
understand that it all looks a bit confusing around the
centre at the moment, but all entries to the centre will
remain fully accessible at all times.

WORKSCOPE PROGRAM REALLY
WORKS FOR MICHEL’S PATISSERIE
Workscope originated as a community based service in 1989 to provide
employment support and training for people with significant disabilities
in the Brisbane area. With funding provided by the Commonwealth
Department of Education, Employment and Industrial Relations
Workscope is a people focussed organisation, operating from a social
justice framework. Through its professional, collaborative and flexible
approach, Workscope’s mission is to facilitate cost effective employment
outcomes for job seekers and equal opportunity employers.
Matt Dunshea is the owner of Michel’s Patisserie Lutwyche, and is also a
board member for Workscope. Matt has been involved with Workscope
for three years and over the past 12 months has been actively employing
Workscope program participants at his Michel’s Patisserie store with
fantastic results, retaining three regular staff: Clayton; Cliff and Matt.
These three staff members who may have their own personal challenges
do a fantastic job at fulfilling their responsibilities at work. All with
mixed backgrounds and experiences, they have shown Matt Dunshea
that they can be reliable and hard working. Matt stated that giving
them regular work at Michel’s Patisserie has given them so much more
than just employment as they get a real kick out of simple satisfactions
like seeing their name on a roster or receiving a payslip just like all
the other staff. These seemingly simple things in life bring so much
joy because they make them feel a part of a team and part of society,
contributing to the greater community in their own way.
Being involved with Workscope has proven a source of personal growth
for the rest of the team at Michel’s Patisserie as well. In working with the
Workscope participants the Michel’s Patisserie staff has learned how to
manage and work with others that have different needs. It has taught
them how to be flexible in the workplace and how to incorporate others
with different motivations and skills within the team. Overall the team
at Michel’s Patisserie have grown and flourished whilst implementing
this fantastic programme. Come and see the great work that the
Michel’s Patisserie team are doing both for the community and for your
coffee desires (they make fantastic coffee and cakes!).

WHAT’S ON AT CENTRO LUTWYCHE?
1-31 OCTOBER 2009 CENTRO LUTWYCHE IS GOING PINK
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the only Australian notfor-profit
organisation funding research into the prevention, detection
and treatment of breast cancer. To date, $55 million has funded 230
research programs and ultimately they aim to find the causes giving us
the potential to prevent breast cancer. Along the way they are improving
the quality of life of people diagnosed with breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Pink Ribbon Day is
the signature event of the month. The Pink Ribbon Campaign aims to
celebrate the achievements of breast cancer research and raise additional
funds. Pink Ribbon Day will be held on Monday 26th October.
How can you help?
This year, the NBCF has made it easier than ever to show your support
of breast cancer research. Participating retailers in Centro Lutwyche
will have a Pink Ribbon Merchandise box on their counter for you to
purchase some of the fantastic quality Pink Ribbon items and show your

During October, Westpac will celebrate 80
years of banking support within the Lutwyche
community. Once located in the previously
named Lutwyche City Shopping Centre, the
branch relocated across the road to Chalk Street,
