For This Successful
Georgia Surveying Firm,
Switching to Trimble Was
Good for Business
GeoSurvey, Ltd. is an ALTA/ASCM land title survey company
located in Marietta, Georgia. Founded in 1996,
they currently have 16 employees and provide land survey
services throughout Georgia and the surrounding states.
When you talk with Trent Turk, CEO, and Jamey Coleman,
COO, you quickly realize these gentlemen know their
business very well.
After 14 years of owning several different brands of
robotic equipment and experiencing constant repairs
along the way, they decided it was time to start looking for
their fourth generation of robots. Their search led them to
Trimble and Duncan-Parnell. They were aware of Trimble’s
reputation for ease of use, reliability and speed. And, they
were impressed by Duncan-Parnell’s willingness to help
them as they worked through their decision process.
The decision to switch to Trimble did not happen immediately. For example, during the demonstration phase of their evaluation, they tried
out the latest solutions from a couple of other major brands in addition to the Trimble ® S6. They were surprised at how much more diffi cult
these other instruments were to set up in the robotic mode when compared to the S6. According to Trent, when side-by-side comparison
tests were run, “you could literally see the difference. The S6 provided more data and it was more accurate.”
Still, to be on the safe side, they ultimately decided to purchase an S6 and one of the other units, so they could thoroughly test them
against each other in the fi eld before making their fi nal decision. It didn’t take long for the fi eld crews to weigh in, and they weren’t
happy with the competitive unit. In fact, they starting engaging in friendly competition to see who would get to use the Trimble S6 for the
day. Within a few months, GeoSurvey had replaced all of their old robots with Trimble S6 units, and they even sold the competitive unit
they had purchased for comparison.
In the end, it came down to confi dence and performance. Trent and Jamey were more confi dent in having a one-man crew equipped
with an S6 than they were in having a two-man crew using the other unit. “The speed of the S6 immediately made us money,” says Trent.
“And I can’t say enough about Duncan-Parnell. They bent over backwards in every possible way throughout the process. When some
little issues came up during the transition process, they worked closely with Trimble to get us taken care of.”
After standardizing on the Trimble S6 Robotic Total Station, GeoSurvey also elected to standardize on Trimble controllers and GPS receivers.
“It just made good business sense,” according to Jamey. “We like to standardize on a particular solution because it’s more effi cient
that way.” So today, when you see GeoSurvey crews throughout the Southeast, you’ll notice they all use Trimble robots, GPS solutions
and data collectors. There is a good reason for that. It’s good for business.
Duncan-Parnell takes great pride in helping
companies like GeoSurvey succeed. See
for yourself how Trimble solutions and our
commitment to customer service can help
