Book Club
On Monday, February 25, the Book club will meet in the school
library to discuss What Happened at Vatican II by Father John
O’Malley S.J.
What Happened at Vatican II captures the drama of the council,
depicting the colorful characters involved and their clashes with
one another. The book also offers a new set of interpretive
categories for understanding the council’s dynamics —
categories that move beyond the tired “progressive” and
“conservative” labels. As we approach the fiftieth anniversary of
the calling of the council, this work reveals in a new way the
spirit of Vatican II. A reliable, even-handed introduction to the
council, the book is a critical resource for understanding the
Catholic Church today, including the pontificate of Benedict XVI.

Feeding the Poor
Our parish is participating in CRS Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief
others, especially through the most vulnerable in the world.
Rice Bowls are available in the back of the church. Please be
sure to take on home and use the easy and fun resources to
deepen your family's Lenten experience. Your prayers, fasting
and almsgiving this Lenten season will help Catholic Relief
100 counties. CRS works on our behalf to care for the poorest
in the world and to end global poverty.
Whole Community Catechesis
Gospel – Luke 9:28b-36
Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and
Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
"Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
"This is my chosen Son; listen to him."
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.
The Second Sunday in Lent:
In today’s Gospel we learn something about listening to Jesus.
It tells of the transfiguration, when Jesus and three of his
Apostles go to the top of a mountain together. Lent is a good
time for us to think about how well we listen. When we hear the
Scriptures proclaimed, do we listen carefully to better
understand the word of God?
Question of the week:
Adult and Child: What do you most want God to help you
with?
Journal Starter: I need to listen to Jesus on my Lenten
journey in the following way…
Word of the week: dazzling
EMs Needed – All Nursing Homes
Once again, we are asking that you consider serving as an
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to the Nursing Home
Ministry. We have had several parishioners respond to the
previous announcements but we still need more EMs to answer
the call of doing God's work. We have openings at all of the
Nursing Homes within our parish. Do you think you could find it
in your heart to give two hours of your time one Sunday a
month, or on a Fifth Sunday (four times a year) to serve God in
this very precious ministry by bringing Holy Communion to
Catholic Residents in a Nursing Home? A new EM would serve
for about two hours following the 9:00 am Sunday Mass once-amonth
and will be finished by lunch time. The nursing home
Residents are always so grateful when you bring the Eucharist
to them. Your presence will help them to maintain their vital
spiritual link to Church. Please contact Toni Mulqueen as soon
as possible at (609) 877-3382; email:
a.mulqueen@comcast.net.
appointments will be required. To sign up for the program, call
the Moorestown Clerk’s office at 856-235-0912 extension 3016,
during normal business hours. Appointments will be made for
reports, etc.) from last year (2011) and the tax booklets
received from the Federal and State tax offices along with
The Bishop’s Appeal In Action
Ministry of Catholic Schools: Catholic schools in Burlington,
Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties welcome Catholic and
non-Catholic students from many different cultural
backgrounds. Parents, as the primary educators of their
children, work in partnership with teachers to develop their
children's potential in becoming life-long learners. In a faithcentered,
child-sensitive environment, students are taught
respect and to value individual differences in others. Our
schools' Catholic identity integrates spirituality, collegiality,
social justice and academic development as students proclaim
the faith in all learning activities.
Department of Youth, Marriage and Family Life: The
Department of Youth Marriage and Family Life strives to
promote a Catholic understanding of life through faith formation
at every stage of human living. They support you and your
family, recognizing that your family is "holy, not because it is
perfect, but because God's grace is at work in it, helping it to set
out anew every day on the way to love."
