• Based on the OO design, the kernel part (particle transport<strong>at</strong>ion and<br />
rel<strong>at</strong>ed controls) was implemented by C++ in the 1st year of R&D.<br />
• Tracking and geometry kernel codes developed independently in<br />
Japan and CERN were merged successfully just in one day during the<br />
workshop in September 1995.<br />

These provided a convincing indic<strong>at</strong>ion to R&D reviewers th<strong>at</strong><br />
<strong>GEANT4</strong> would be faster than GEANT3.<br />
