Pest Control
This summer many of you will inevitably have problems
with ant and insect infestations. The Association does not
offer a pest control facility and tenants are asked to treat
the problem themselves. Most infestations can be dealt
with by using a generic insecticide, available from
supermarkets and DIY stores. There are other electronic
devices, however, these are a little more expensive. If you
do wish any infestation to be treated by your Local
Authority, you can contact your Local Authority
Environmental Health Department direct. There may be a
charge for this service.

Dog Fouling
Whether you walk your dog in a local park,
in the town, along the coast or out in the
countryside you need to make sure you
always do so responsibly and help combat
the problem of dog fouling. We want to keep
our estates safe and clean.
To report dog fouling in your area
please call your Local Authority

Free dog bags are available from most
local council offices, libraries and
community centres.

If you need a replacement bin please contact your Local
Authority Cleansing Department. Do not leave bin bags, old
furniture etc in your garden. Please ensure that you make
use of the special uplift services offered by the Council.

Shaping the
Future of
Pennyburn
Following the success of the initial
consultation event on the
demolition of the Pennyburn Flats
held in October 2011, we held a
planning consultation event in
April to review the proposed plans
for the new housing development.
Our Design Team, Architect, Steering
Group and Regeneration Working Group
met with the community at The Playz,
Pennyburn to get their thoughts and
feedback on the proposed plans to allow
us to prepare an application for planning
consent for the new houses.
The 48 flats are to be replaced with
approximately 22 two and three-bed
houses on the existing footprint of the flats
and car park area to the front.
As well as consultation on the plans, John
Brennan, Technical Officer (Estates) got
feedback from the community on the
wider regeneration of the estate, including
play areas and recreational facilities, car
parking and the demolition of lock ups.
Croft Goode Architects donated a £20
Argos voucher for the Design Your Ideal
Home competition. The winner was seven
year old Lee Smith. Lucky tenant, Mr Greig
won a £30 Morrisons voucher for
completing a survey regarding his opinion
of the proposed plans.

70% of the residents of the flats have been
re-housed and we are on track to have all
residents re-housed by Winter 2012 and to

Feedback from the planning consultation
event will be discussed with our Architect
and Design Team and final plans reviewed
with the Steering Group.

Involved!
We have been actively engaging with our communities through our
Community Involvement Team. As well as attending tenant groups,
we have been involving our ‘Count Me In’ tenants in shaping service
delivery and service quality. The consultation calendar details
forthcoming local tenant group meetings and consultations/meetings.

Summer Time
Summer is coming in and with lighter
nights and warmer weather we are all in
the mood to have fun. Please have
consideration for your neighbours if you
are barbecuing, playing music or the kids
are out playing that bit later than usual.
Now that we are part of Riverside our
tenants have the opportunity to be part
of Riverside’s Tenants & Residents
Federation. We will be organising a
taster session this summer to introduce
The Federation and Riverside’s
approach to tenant participation and
empowerment. There are various
groups within the Federation including
Service Quality, Communications,
Repairs, Customer Services and Tenant
Inspectors, which we hope to nominate
some of our community representatives
to attend.
