Celebrating Academic<br />

An honorary doctor of humane letters degree was bestowed upon Emanoel<br />

Araujo at <strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s 2012 Commencement on Wednesday,<br />

May 16 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford. Joining Mr. Araujo<br />

(right), a Brazilian artist who is founder and director of the Museu Afro<br />

Brasil in Sao Paulo, are (from left): Rafael Perez, Esq., chair of the Board<br />

of Trustees; Dominick D’Agosta, chair of the NJCU Foundation Board of<br />

Directors; Dr. Carlos Hernández, then president of NJCU; Ambassador<br />

Luiz Felipe de Seixas Correa, Consul General of Brazil in <strong>New</strong> York, and<br />

Jane Sepulveda, president of the Class of 2012. Dr. Joanne Z. Bruno, vice<br />

president for academic affairs, presided over the ceremony.<br />
