Recorded in Italy, October/November 1998
ITALY
Keith Rapley writes…..Firstly, I was in Italy to see the trains. Italian buses are pretty much an orange blank, so I
only recorded the stuff that took my fancy, which usually means anything new, small or different. The fleets of
blue ‘country buses’ failed totally to spark my interest; there is a limit to the number of Ivecos a man can take, and
my limit is very, very low.
Foggia (ATAF) (on a Sunday)
My first sight of a BussOtto, which appears to be a MAN with Autodromo body. Recent deliveries appear to be
three-door BussOttos, with the following noted:
157 AC 525 KK 158 AC 526 KK 163 AM 016 PW 167 AR 360 AA 169 AR 362 AA
170 AR 363 AA 171 AR 364 AA
The older vehicles seen were all Ivecos, the following being noted:
108 FG 317965 120 FS 342102 145 FG 451753
(‘U-Effeumo’) (‘TurboCity S’)
Catanzaro (AMC)
A very hilly city. There is a town centre minibus link from the Funicular terminus to the top of the centre, using
Iveco Daily / Autodromo ‘Pollicino’ - those noted in service were:
89 AA 163 ZL 92 AA 853 ZL
Napoli (ANM - formerly ATAN)
Low-floor buses here! They are used on the main high-frequency circular routes R2, R3 and R4. I didn’t travel too
extensively, so may have missed other interesting stuff.
Iveco 491 ‘CityClass’ B22Ts noted were:
