Tas Choapa are a medium sized Chilean company, probably based in Santiago, who operate both national
services over much of the country as far south as Puerto Montt and international services to Argentina. Vehicles
are varied in age although recent investment has been negligable. Chassis types and body builders are also
varied but vehicles are all well maintained. Liveries are generally white with black lining. The name and the upper
half of a bird figure in red and yellow. Some vehicles, believed to be used as sleepers, have the black and white
reversed. The roof is also red.
The company has one of the very few remaining Neoplan Skyliners still running in service, the vehicle recorded
probably dating from the late 1970’s. Also featured are rare Setras, only operated by a very few companies in the
country. The remainder of the vehicles, Volvos and Mercedes, are both two and three axled versions, depending
on the body height (weight) and the work undertaken. The list below comes from observations in 1/97 and 2/98.
Mercedes vehicles have part of the chassis number etched on to one or both of the front passenger windows
which means these can easily be recorded in most lights. Some strange looks can be had from those passengers
in the front seats as you appear to be looking at them but focusing in front of them, but who cares…
