Senior Rolando Ramos, a lab operator for
the Reynolds Center Macintosh lab, takes an 1.0.
from a student working in the lab.
As Information Technology Services managed
all campus labs, new policies became effective due
to tightened funding.
All labs required students to show their student
identification cards to use the lab computers. Although
this policy provided safety and security,
several students found the policy to be an additional
burden.
''The policy can be annoying when I am in a
hurry to work in the computer lab before closing and
I realize my card is not with me," junior Eric Fay
said. "A trip back to my dorm will waste the little time
I have to work in the lab,"
The largest disturbance resulted from the reduction
of available lab hours.
''The Reynolds lab is my second home and with
the [original] hours, I [was] unable to meet my
needs during this frantic and stressful senior year,"
senior Jaime Fahs said.
Academic Information Systems sponsored a
meeting at the beginning of the fall semester for
students to voice their concems. Evaluating the
concems, AIS extended most labs' operating hours.
"The change helped me somewhat because I
do a lot of work on the week days in the Mac Lab,"
sophomore DeAnn Thomassaid. "I'm appreciative
of AIS trying to accommodate my schedule." (Photo
