Summer Internship Funding
This is the third year that the Summer Internship Funding Program has been providing students with awards
for their summer experience. The program awards up to $4,000 for domestic internships and $5,000 for
international internships to students who will take on either unpaid or low paying opportunities.
The goals of the program for students are to
• Gain a rich understanding of a particular field and/or organization
• Have a personalized internship opportunity
• Connect the internship to their career goals/aspirations
• Have access to an internship that could be pivotal in their career development but would be difficult to obtain
without additional funding
Overview
The CDO received over 100 applications from students who had received offers for unpaid or low paying
internships. This is a 15% increase in applicants compared to last year.
Students submitted an application along with a resume and budget explaining their expected expenses. After
all applications were read twice by the Summer Funding Committee, the semi-finalists were chosen to interview
with the Selection Committee that consisted of Pomona and CUC staff and faculty. The program has grown
from funding 25 students in the summer of 2012 to funding 47 students in the summer of 2013.
