Dr. Herbert noted that <strong>YSU</strong> mathematics students<br />
again participated in the national <strong>2006</strong> MathFest competition<br />
along with students from thirty-two other universities. <strong>YSU</strong><br />
students received 5 of the 10 awards given at the competition.<br />
Dr. Herbert reported that more than 400 teachers from across<br />
Ohio have been on campus the past few days participating in a<br />
symposium on “Inspiring the Love of Literacy.”<br />
Dr. Herbert reminded the board of the cooperative<br />
exchange agreement entered into one year ago by <strong>YSU</strong> and Lunghwa<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Science & Technology in Taiwan. Dr. Herbert recognized<br />
and welcomed a visiting professor and 5 students from<br />
Taiwan on campus for the coming academic year.<br />
Following Dr. Herbert’s report, the chairperson<br />
noted that the Academic and Student Affairs committee was recommending<br />
one resolution for adoption by the board. There being<br />
no objection thereto, the chairperson declared the following<br />
resolution adopted by general consent:<br />
Resolution to Adopt<br />
The Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct<br />
YR 2007-01<br />
WHEREAS, The Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities,<br />
and Conduct (The Code) outlines student rights, responsibilities,<br />
and conduct as well as the due process<br />
and disciplinary procedures utilized, details of the<br />
academic grievance procedure, the students records<br />
policy, etc.; and<br />
WHEREAS, several sections of The Code have been updated<br />
and revised;<br />
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of<br />
Trustees of <strong>Youngstown</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> does hereby<br />
adopt The Code shown as Exhibit A attached hereto.<br />
2. External Relations Committee.<br />
The chairperson noted that the committee was recommending<br />
one resolution for adoption by the board. There being<br />
no objection thereto, the chairperson declared the following<br />
resolution adopted by general consent:<br />
