2. Extension of Chiranjivi Yojana to APL ST families;<br />
3. Providing LPG Connection, tap water connection till the kitchen level and<br />
electrification of every ST household; and<br />
4. Arranging SATCOM based tutorials in English, Mathematics and Science for<br />
school going girls.<br />
B. MEASURES TO ENCOURAGE ACCESS TO PROJECTS:<br />
Due to low literacy rate among women and various social barriers, women have low<br />
accesses to the government projects. Under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, special efforts<br />
should be made to ensure at least 50 % participation of women. For this purpose-<br />
1. Women headed households will be covered during the beginning of every<br />
project;<br />
2. Every Project will have a separate component for capacity building of<br />
participating women to ensure equitable participation of women. This shall<br />
also include measures for their capacity building, awareness raising, and<br />
development of gender sensitive training modules and sensitization of men<br />
folks;<br />
3. Project implementers right till the grass roots level will have to undertake<br />
gender sensitization course to appreciate the differential needs and<br />
expectations of women;<br />
4. At least 50% participants in Wadi Projects and 80% in Integrated Dairy<br />
<strong>Development</strong> Projects will be women, irrespective of their land ownership;<br />
5. Access to Credit through BPL Cards: In order to ensure that women are able to<br />
draw credit according to their needs through BPL cards, a project for this<br />
purpose will be developed; and<br />
6. Widows belonging to BPL category will be extended credit from GTDC at a<br />
rate which will be 0.5% lower than prevailing rates.<br />
C. MEASURES TO ENSURE CONTROL TO THE ASSET CREATED<br />
THROUGH THE PROJECT:<br />
It is seen that women have lesser control on the assets built up through development<br />
projects. Livelihood promotion projects under this programme will encourage at least<br />
