F-16 * AF A multi-role aircraft; complements the F-4 and F-15 in an air-toair<br />

role. Most accurate ground delivery system in the inventory;<br />

supersonic; typical load 6000 lbs, max load 10,600 lbs.<br />

F-18 * N/MC A multi-role fighter scheduled to replace the F-4. A wide variety<br />

of air-to-surface weapons. Typical load 7000 lbs, max load<br />

17,000 lbs, 20mm gun mounted in the nose; air-to-air missiles.<br />

AC-130 AF/R A specialized CAS/RACO aircraft propeller driven. Two models:<br />

A model is equipped with two 40mm guns, two 20mm guns and<br />

two 7.62mm miniguns. The H model is similar, except no<br />

7.62mm miniguns and one of the 40mm guns is replaced with a<br />

105mm Howitzer. Both models have advanced sensors and<br />

target acquisition system including forward looking infrared<br />

radar (FLIR) and low light TV. Weapons employment accuracy<br />

is outstanding. This aircraft is vulnerable to enemy air defense<br />

systems and must operate in a low threat environment.<br />
