Effects on Women- Cont’d ‣ Anger ‣ Feeling paranoid and crazy ‣ Feelings of guilt ‣ Feeling as though they are responsible for the abuse ‣ Feeling like they have failed ‣ Many women that we see at our Service are not only coping with the present violence and abuse but also the effects of the domestic violence they may have experienced as a child. The impact of domestic violence can also be significantly greater for women from non-English speaking backgrounds, Indigenous women and rural women. Women survivors of domestic violence are also experiencing the effects of mainstream society that tends to blame and isolate women in domestic violence situations
