THE COMMITTED CAPITAL INVESTMENT
TEAM
The Committed Capital Investment Team will be led by
Neil MacFadyen, an experienced VCT fund manager.
The other team members will include Steven Harris,
Rubel Quadar and Andrew Bloxam.
Neil MacFadyen (45)
Neil has some 20 years’ experience as an investor in the
venture capital sector, specialising in funding
management buyouts and development capital for fast
growing small companies.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Neil joined
private equity house, Murray Johnstone in 1990, and
subsequently Aberdeen Asset Management PLC
following its acquisition of Murray Johnstone in 2000.
From 2005 to 2009, he was the investment director
responsible for Aberdeen’s Growth Capital team in the
South of England. He focused predominantly on
investments, typically in the £1m to £5m range, in small
and medium sized companies across a broad range of
sectors in the key regional centres in the South.
In addition to sourcing and negotiating investments on
behalf of Venture Capital Trusts and other clients, Neil
has been closely involved in the nurturing and
monitoring of portfolio investments and has served on
the boards of over 20 portfolio companies during his
career in venture capital.
Neil holds a degree in accountancy from Glasgow
University and subsequently qualified as a Chartered
Accountant in 1987. His early career was spent with
Ernst & Young in Glasgow and KPMG in Brussels and
Antwerp.
Neil is a director of both the Manager and Committed
Capital.
Steven Harris (49)
Steven is CEO of Committed Capital and has spent
twenty-three years in corporate development acting on
takeovers, strategic alliances and fund raisings both as
principal and agent. Initially a Corporate Financier at
HSBC, Steven later became a director in the Corporate
Finance Department of Société Générale in London and
more recently worked as global head of Mergers and
Acquisitions at PA Consulting.
In the early years of the internet, Steven was investment
director at antfactory, a start up internet incubator,
which grew to become one of the UK’s leading internet
investment vehicles, with a $600m technology-focused
private equity fund. He was also finance director of its
investment banking division.
Steven holds a MBA from London Business School and
a degree in Modern History. Steven attended the Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst and was an officer in the
British Army.
Steven is also a director of the Company and a director
of the Manager.
Rubel Quadar (39)
Rubel joined Committed Capital in 2007. He brings a
range of experience from strategy consulting, operational
roles and, most recently, investing in, and advising,
smaller UK growth companies with Committed Capital.
Prior to joining Committed Capital, Rubel worked in
strategy consulting for more than ten years, firstly with
Oliver, Wyman & Company in London, Switzerland and
Sydney and, more recently, Roland Berger in London.
Rubel also gained operational experience at Punch
Taverns, where he was the firm’s in-house strategist
reporting to the CEO and CFO.
Rubel has a degree in mathematics from University
College London and an MPhil in international relations
from Balliol College, Oxford.
Andrew Bloxam (33)
Andrew joined Committed Capital in 2007. He has over
ten years’ financial services experience, predominantly
focusing on smaller high growth businesses.
Prior to joining Committed Capital, Andrew worked as
a corporate financier in the UK mid-cap team of
Robert Fleming & Co, the European Technology Team
at JPMorgan, Strata Technology Partners, a Londonbased
corporate finance boutique, which he helped
establish in 2002 and, most recently, Committed Capital,
where he has successfully completed a number of
advisory mandates and venture capital investments.
Andrew holds a degree in Economics from Cambridge
University.
Andrew is also a director of the Manager.
ADVISORY BOARD OF COMMITTED CAPITAL
The Advisory Board consists of an experienced group of
individuals who will assist and support Committed
Capital in sourcing transactions and providing strategic
advice to the Manager on individual investments and its
activities. The fees of the Advisory Board will be paid by
Committed Capital (or recharged to the Manager) and
not by the Company. Members of the Advisory Board
may also sit on the Investment Committee from time to
time.
Mark Blandford
Mark Blandford is a successful entrepreneur and venture
capital investor and was one of the earliest offline
bookmakers to see the potential for sports betting
online. Mark initially owned a traditional ‘bricks and
mortar’ bookmaking operation for over 15 years before
recognising the potential of the internet in the mid
1990s and selling the business to Tote Bookmakers in
1997. In October 1998, Mark launched Sportingbet and
in January 2001 the Company floated on the London
14
