Education <strong>Week</strong><br />

Next week on Monday 29th July,<br />

<strong>2013</strong> classrooms will be open<br />

for parents to visit between<br />

10.00 - 11.00pm. There will<br />

also be a display of Scripture<br />

resources in the Library.<br />

Morning Tea at 11.00-11.30am.<br />

Morning tea will be<br />

provided for parents.<br />

In the afternoon as part of<br />

Education week children will<br />

participate in Science on<br />

the Move session with Anne<br />

Stevens. During this ‘hands on’<br />

afternoon, children will have<br />

the Plunging Jellyfish, Balance<br />

Butterfly and Talking Cups.<br />

Bucketts of Care<br />

This year, we will be<br />

celebrating Education week by<br />

joining with the other Bucketts<br />

Way <strong>School</strong>s at Gloucester<br />

Recreation Centre on Thursday<br />

1st August. On this day, the<br />

students will be involved in<br />

learning about volunteers in our<br />

community and will be rotating<br />

through displays and activities<br />

hosted by these groups.<br />

Students will travel to<br />

Gloucester by bus.<br />

Children to wear school uniform<br />

and their school hat.<br />

We need two plates of cooking<br />

from each class for morning<br />

tea for volunteers.<br />

Sausage Sizzle will be available<br />

for lunch. Please pre-order<br />

your sausage sandwich by<br />

Friday 26 July.<br />

The cost to participate in all<br />

Education week activties is<br />

$10 per student. this includes<br />

Science on the Move and the<br />

transport to Gloucester.<br />

more details<br />

Book Swap<br />

On September the 5th we will<br />

once again be holding a book<br />

swap where children are asked<br />

to donate any books they no<br />

longer use for other children<br />

to purchase for a gold coin<br />

donation.<br />

The money raised goes<br />

to the Indigenous Literacy<br />

Foundation to purchase books<br />

for Aboriginal children<br />

living in remote communities.<br />

Even though this is a while<br />

away, please consider if you<br />

have some books available<br />

that your family cound donate<br />

to support this event.<br />

Library Borrowing<br />

Year 3/4/5/6 have time<br />

available to borrow from our<br />

school library on Wednesdays.<br />

K/1/2/3’s borrowing day is on<br />

Thursdays. Students have not<br />

been borrowing regularly. Our<br />

school library has a wide range<br />

of books available, fiction as<br />

well as information books on<br />

many topics. Please encourage<br />

your child to borrow on their<br />

allocated day by reminding<br />

them to bring their books each<br />

week to exchange for new<br />

ones.<br />

Interest Groups<br />

Beginning on Thursday of<br />

<strong>Week</strong> 4 children will participate<br />

in an elective activity from<br />

1.30pm - 2.15pm for 6 weeks.<br />

The interest groups being<br />

offered that children will have a<br />

chance to select from are;<br />

scrapbooking, cooking, prop<br />

making, dance and singing (for<br />

our upcoming performance),<br />

gardening, band and for our<br />

sneior boys wood work. Anyone<br />

who has an interest they would<br />

like to share with the students<br />

please phone the school and<br />

we are happy to add your<br />

activity to our afternoons.<br />

Parent Helpers<br />

Would you have some time<br />

available in your week that you<br />

could spend helping work with<br />

students in our classrooms?<br />

We would appreciate help<br />

from voluntees. Please see<br />

the attached sheet with a<br />

timetable showing the time<br />

slots available.<br />

Fruit And Vegetable Month<br />

Starting from Monday 29th<br />

July and concluding Friday<br />

20th September our school<br />

and canteen will be promoting<br />

fresh fruit and vegetables.<br />

Every time your student brings<br />

in fresh fruit or vegetables for<br />

fruit break or buys fresh fruit or<br />

vegetables from the canteen<br />

they will receive a sticker.<br />

Once they have received four<br />

stickers they fill out their entry<br />

form and return to canteen and<br />

receive a reward. Once the<br />

competition concludes entries<br />

will be sent to Sydney Markets<br />

to entry the major prize draw.<br />

Woolworths Earn & Learn<br />

Thank you to students, parents<br />

and community members who<br />

supported our school by<br />

collecting Woolworths stickers.<br />

We collected 3360 points<br />

We will receive some Maths<br />

resources with these points<br />

beginning of next year.<br />

Principal’s Morning Tea<br />

Will be on Wednesday of week<br />

3 for those children who have<br />

received their bronze award.<br />

If you have received five merit<br />

certificates this year please<br />

return your books to school<br />

by Thursday so that you can<br />

receive your bronze award at<br />

assembly.<br />

Active After <strong>School</strong>s<br />

Have started again this term.<br />

The sports include soccer and<br />

golf and we have had many new<br />

arrangements. Thank you very<br />

much to Johan Kloosterhof and<br />

Moya from the golf club who<br />

are our coaches.<br />

ATHELTICS CARNIVAL<br />

Thanks<br />

To Mr Scarborough for making<br />

the beautiful school collection<br />

box and fixing it to the wall in<br />

the assembly area. This will be<br />

used by all students to place<br />

notes and money from home.<br />

All money needs to be placed in<br />

a sealed envelope with child’s<br />

name and what the money is<br />

for written on the enevelope.<br />

To Mr Travers for building our<br />

new sandpit, that the children<br />

are having so much fun in.<br />

Head Lice<br />

It has been reported that<br />

Nits/head lice are present<br />

int the hair of some students<br />

with in <strong>Krambach</strong> <strong>Public</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>. Please check your<br />

child’s hair for Nits/lice<br />

tonight. Please treat hair if<br />

eggs or lice are found.
