Fellows’ Gathering<br />

As an initiative to enhance communication between<br />

Council and senior members, the inaugural Fellows’<br />

Luncheon — Meet the President was held on 18 May<br />

2004. Over 30 fellows attended the luncheon and<br />

expressed their views for issues relating to the <strong>Institute</strong><br />

and the Company Secretary pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />

Bulletin Board Update Service<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> provides a Bulletin Board Update (BBU)<br />

Service which circulates information and<br />

announcements issued by various governmental and<br />

regulatory bodies via email or fax in a timely manner.<br />

During the year, 40 BBUs were circulated.<br />

New Look Website<br />

A new interactive website was launched in February<br />

2004 to enhance communication with members.<br />

Members will be able to log-in to update their contact<br />

and employment details via the website.<br />

Customer Relationship Management System<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> invested nearly HK$400,000 to launch<br />

the Customer Relationship Management System in<br />

March 2004. <strong>The</strong> system provides a central database<br />

and a variety <strong>of</strong> web-based support functions to help<br />

improve and streamline its communication and services<br />

to members.<br />

Company Secretarial Practice Manual<br />

<strong>The</strong> annual update <strong>of</strong> the Company Secretarial Practice<br />

Manual was released in August 2003. An on-line survey<br />

to garner members’ views on the use <strong>of</strong> the Practice<br />

Manual was conducted in April 2004 with a members’<br />

response rate <strong>of</strong> 10%.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Practice Manual was suspended in June 2004<br />

pending the outcome <strong>of</strong> a market research programme<br />

undertaken to ensure the <strong>Institute</strong> delivers useful<br />

products to its members.<br />

Welfare<br />

To promote the welfare <strong>of</strong> members and students and<br />

to enhance a feeling <strong>of</strong> comradeship, a series <strong>of</strong> social<br />

activities were arranged during the year:<br />

• Leisure trip to Zhongshan in August 2003;<br />

• Dinner gathering and stress management<br />

seminar in October 2003;<br />

• War game in March 2004;<br />

• Visit to ICAC in May 2004; and<br />

• Study tour to Shanghai in June/July 2004.<br />

Members’ Discipline<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> is pleased to announce that t<strong>here</strong> were<br />

no disciplinary cases referred for hearing during<br />

the year.<br />

Looking Ahead<br />

<strong>The</strong> Fourth biennial Corporate Governance Conference<br />

“Corporate Governance Reform: Is it Working?” was<br />

successfully held on 15 and 16 October 2004. In the<br />

year ahead, the <strong>Institute</strong> will continue to explore<br />

opportunities to improve members’ services and<br />

promote fellowship. <strong>The</strong> following projects are<br />

underway:<br />

• Annual Dinner 2005 scheduled for 12 January<br />

2005;<br />

• ECPD seminars and workshops that cover topics<br />

<strong>of</strong> interest and necessity for members working<br />

in areas both in and outside the corporate<br />

secretarial sector will continue to be organised<br />

on a regular basis;<br />

• A comprehensive review <strong>of</strong> the publications that<br />

members demand; and<br />

• Solicit associated benefits for the membership<br />

cards.<br />
