<strong>Institute</strong> Representation<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> maintains a close dialogue and relationship<br />
with the regulators. Throughout the year the <strong>Institute</strong><br />
receives invitations for representatives to sit on various<br />
panels and working groups to contribute pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
opinions. A list <strong>of</strong> current representatives is listed on<br />
pages 35 and 36.<br />
Technical Submissions<br />
During the year, the <strong>Institute</strong> submitted comments to:<br />
(a) Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau on -<br />
(i) the “Consultation on Proposals relating<br />
to the Trust Account Arrangement under<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> maintains its status as an approved<br />
“recognised institution for providing Continuous<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Training” to the Securities and Futures<br />
Commission for licensed persons under the Securities<br />
and Futures Ordinance (SFO).<br />
(ii)<br />
the Companies (Corporate Rescue) Bill”<br />
in October 2003;<br />
the “Consultation Paper on the Proposals<br />
to (a) Enhance the Oversight <strong>of</strong> the Public<br />
Interest Activities <strong>of</strong> Auditors and (b)<br />
Establish a Financial Reporting Review<br />
Panel” in October 2003;<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> successfully organised the fifth Annual<br />
Corporate & Regulatory Update (ACRU) seminar in<br />
March 2004 which was supported by <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong><br />
Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Official Receiver’s<br />
Office and Securities and Futures Commission. Officials<br />
from the regulators presented the latest legal and<br />
regulatory development at the seminar.<br />
(iii) the “ Consultation on Proposed<br />
Amendments to the Companies<br />
Ordinance to Facilitate Offers <strong>of</strong> Shares<br />
and Debentures” in November 2003;<br />
(iv) the “Consultation Paper on the Proposals<br />
to Enhance the Regulation <strong>of</strong> Listing” in<br />
December 2003; and<br />
