Use for placement scores between two classes
Math
1. Time since your last math class
If more than two years, place into higher class if between courses.
2. Highest math course successfully completed
If highest course successfully completed is equal to or higher than the lower of two courses, admit
to higher course. For example, if a student’s placement score is between Elementary and
Intermediate Algebra and s/he had successfully completed Elementary Algebra or higher, admit the
student into Intermediate Algebra.
English
1. Does student’s job require a great deal of writing?
If yes, place into higher class if between courses.
2. Time since your last English class
If more than two years, place into higher class if between courses.
Reading
1. Does student’s job require a great deal of reading?
If yes, place into higher class if between courses.
2. Time since your last reading class
If more than two years, place into higher class if between courses.
ESL
Multiple measures covered by oral interview
Other considerations for all tests
Severe emotional or physical distress on day of assessment suggests need to re-assess.
Language, disability, or other factors that were not properly accommodated suggest need to re-assess
with proper accommodations.
