Our Honor Guard fired memorial rounds at the<br />

Loescher Veterans Cemetery <strong>in</strong> Rockland County, NY on<br />

24 May 2009.<br />

There is a street <strong>in</strong> Rockland County named “Murphy<br />

Ct“ <strong>in</strong> honor of LtCol Michael Murphy (USMC), who died<br />

while flight test<strong>in</strong>g the adjustable w<strong>in</strong>g aircraft Osprey<br />

several years ago. His father, John P. Murphy, is a Purple<br />

Heart veteran of Korea and a former president of CID 90.<br />

John was wounded while serv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Co. I, 19th Inf.<br />

Reg,, 24th Div. He would like <strong>to</strong> hear from anyone who<br />

recognizes him, or the event <strong>in</strong> which he was wounded.<br />

CID 90’s Honor Guard ready <strong>to</strong> fire memorial rounds at the Loescher<br />

Veterans Cemetery<br />

133 - QUIET WARRIORS [IN]<br />

Our members formed a work detail over the<br />

Memorial Day Weekend <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong>stall 50 American flags<br />

along the driveway of the Ft. Wayne, Indiana Veterans<br />

Adm<strong>in</strong>istration facility. We have been volunteer<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

this duty for over ten years.<br />

Mel Aldridge and his wife Joan, Vice Commander<br />

Wayne A. Doenges and his two sons, Mark And Chris,<br />

Joan Botas, widow of the chapter’s founder, Howard<br />

Rice, and Ken Kurtz. We even had one ‘walk-up” volunteer,<br />

Nate Sapp<strong>in</strong>g<strong>to</strong>n, a Vietnam veteran.<br />
