ARTMENT OF INDIANA<br />

<strong>KWVA</strong> Department of Indiana Commander Don Ellwood, of<br />

Pendleton, IN, attended the August 16 picnic of CID 129<br />

(Southeastern Indiana #4), in Aurora, IN. His purpose was to<br />

assist Chapter Commander Luther Rice recognize two of the<br />

Chapter’s charter members, Glynn Clark and Carroll Love.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Chapter was chartered by the national <strong>KWVA</strong> during<br />

March 1996. Both Clark and Love have served continuously as<br />

Chapter officers in one capacity or another since the charter was<br />

issued.<br />

Department President Tom Gaffney. <strong>The</strong>re were 122 members,<br />

wives, and guests in attendance.<br />

Dick Davis obtained some valuable and unique prizes, such as<br />

a basketball autographed by Coach Billy Donavan of the<br />

University of Florida’s 2006 national college basketball champions,<br />

a football and helmet autographed by the University of<br />

Florida’s football coach Urban Meyers, and a basketball autographed<br />

by the University of Florida’s women’s basketball<br />

coach, Carolyn Peck.<br />

<strong>The</strong> guest speaker was Captain Bill Pokorny, US Navy,<br />

Commander of the University of Florida ROTC Cadet Corps.<br />

Also honored at the banquet was local <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong> hero Sarge<br />

McQuinn, a member of the 187th Regimental Combat team<br />

while serving in Korea. Entertainment for the evening was provided<br />

by the Girls Choral Group of the <strong>Korean</strong> Baptist Church of<br />

Gainesville, followed by music for dancing provided by DJ Al.<br />

Latini.<br />

Alachua County Commission Chairman Lee Pinkoson was on<br />

hand to welcome all attendees to the area and thank them for<br />

their service.<br />

Next year’s convention will be held in Sebring, Florida in<br />

May of 2007.<br />

“<strong>The</strong>ir loyalty and dedication to their Chapter is truly commendable,”<br />

Ellwood said.<br />

Both Clark and Love were given plaques in appreciation for<br />

their years of service in the Chapter. Clark served in the Army<br />

and Love in the Air Force during the <strong>Korean</strong> <strong>War</strong>.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Department held its annual spring convention May 10-12,<br />

2006 at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, NY. One of the VIPs in<br />

attendance was Clare Norris, the wife of <strong>KWVA</strong> founder Bill Norris.<br />
