Reunion of Basic Trainees at Camp Breckenridge, KY I ’m a Korean War Era veteran. I never was in Korea I entered the Army January 6, 1953. I took BCT & AIT at Camp Breckenridge KY, through May 1953. After that, I was at Ft. Knox, KY during June & July 1953. Following that, I reported to Camp Polk, LA, where I was assigned to Tank Co., 147th Inf Regt., 37 Inf Div., Ohio National Guard, in August 1953. I remained with the 37th until June 1954, when the 37th was deactivated; I went to the 10th Inf. Div. at Ft. Riley, KS, where I was assigned to Tank Co., 86th Inf Regt. I was a member of the Active Reserve until 31 Aug 1983, when I retired as a Command Sgt Maj. I enjoyed almost every minute of my military service. Some of us who went through basic training at Breckenridge got together there in 1991 for a reunion, which I organized. The gathering brought back some fond memories of Camp Breckenridge, which readers might enjoy. Vernon R.
