A.D.Hall states he had been in practice of the law sinee 1899; that he was born in
Harlan County on May 2, 1866. He also stated his father was A.S. Hall, who was
born in Lee Co., Va. In 1822, and died in Harlan County, Ky. On June 7, 1887, and
was a Baptist preacher. In the AFFIDAVIT, A.D. Hall stated his Grandfather was

Frances Hall served jn the Civil War with his brother. James Hall. Thev both
listed ages as 23 when they enlisted.
From Nettie F. Stephenson. Harlan Co .. 1-22-1969. her letter says:.
.. "Speaking of Frances Hall who was in the Civil War. well I have seen him
many times when I was a child. During elections. and other events in the
county. he would go up and down the streets waving the American Flag and
calling out: "Live or Die. Sink or Swim. l' for the Old Log Cabin
(Republican Party)." Frances Hall and James Hall are buried in the old Gray's
Knob Cemty. (Hall) and their ~aves are both marked with Government
markers. I visited the cemtery last Spring before it ~ew up in weeds." Signed:
