The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Senzo Mchunu, is going to attend a funeral of 10 leaners that passed
on during a horrible minibus accident at Bergville last Saturday. Upon hearing about the accident, MEC Senzo
Mchunu and the MEC for Transport in the Province, Mr Willies Mchunu, met with the bereaved parents and the
community of Ukhombe.
In a period of just over a Month, this is a third mass funeral that the MEC is going to attend. “What is even
more heart breaking about these funerals is that they involve very young children and as a parent myself, I
know how it feels like to lose a child. We have lost a total of 27 learners in just over a Month and that is very
disturbing,” said the MEC.
