L-3 MS provides a range a designs from
ship control consoles fitted with OEM
equipment through fully integrated designs
with a functionality ‘under glass’ to provide the
ultimate in ergonomic design.
L-3’s fully integrated design moves all operator
interfaces to the system video displays, providing
standardized layouts that reduce operator
training and error. The ergonomics of the ship
control console is optimized to suit each vessel’s
unique bridge layout. The SNBS operates by a
keyboard and track ball mounted on the armrest
of the chairs. The operator is able to control
the vessel using a joystick interface, or with a
conventional helm wheel and operating levers.

navigation and bridge control solutions for
many of the latest United States Navy and
United States Coast Guard platforms including
Independence Class, Makin Island, America
Class, Zumwalt Class and the Sentinel Class
Cutters. We provide both commercial and full
military bridge designs depending on program
requirements.

L-3 MS can provide a full mockup of your bridge
space and do a rapid prototype of the ship
control console for formal ergonomic analysis
and operator evaluation prior to manufacturing.
Low cost, functional, prototypes can be
manufactured for further evaluation prior to
final design release.

The heart of a navigation system is the data
distribution system. L-3’s data distribution
system interfaces with the navigation sensors
and makes the data available to all users. Our
military systems support the standard NAVSSI
interface as well as NEMA 0183 and synchro
based devices and provide both IP and hardwired
outputs to users. Our commercial designs are
designed for NEMA devices and IP output.

other L-3 divisions or from OEMs to best meet your
requirements. Not being bound to internal products
allows us to optimize your solution for both
cost and capability.
C h a r t S y s t e m s
We offer both commercial ECDIS and naval
ECDIS-N chart systems. We use COTS ECDIS
products from multiple suppliers based on the
best solution for the specific application.
H e l m C o n s o l e s
L-3 MS produces a full range of helm
consoles for traditional bridge designs. These
designs incorporate traditional helm wheels,
telegraph/throttle controls and follow up/
non follow up steering controls. L-3 MS
provides full steering control systems which
can be integrated into a complete ship control
solution

heading indicators, peloruses and other bridge
