From the Desk of the General Manager
Dear Member,
Summer has arrived and the activity level at the Club
is surpassing record numbers. Over the Memorial Day
weekend, the Pool opened with temperatures reaching
over 90°, I am happy to report that our new umbrellas
and patio furniture have arrived. We now have
plenty of additional seating
options and 20 new umbrellas
so there will be plenty of space
to take a break. Our Pool Café
operated successfully over the
weekend with thanks to the
hard work of many new employees.
We are also in the
process of installing new swimsuit
dryers in both pool locker
rooms. They will be a great
addition allowing Members to
dry their bathing suits in a minute.

The social calendar for June is packed and we are ofoffering
two new events. Saturday, June 9 is ‘Cattail
Goes to the Dogs.’ Come out to the Club and bring
your dog for some fun! On Father’s Day, Sunday, June
17, we will be offering a Cookout and Car Show. Our
biggest event of the year, our Anniversary Party with
Fireworks, is planned for Saturday, June 30. Mark
your calendars and register online in advance.
If you have dined in the Restaurant this past month,
you may have noticed that Justin Passero, was promoted
to the position of Dining Room Manager. Katelyn
Rubright resigned in April, and after a local search,
I decided to promote Justin. Justin expressed a strong
interest to continue to grow with the Club and his efefforts
to date have been first class. He is a hard
worker who cares about the Membership, and his fellow
employees. Please continue to support Justin as
he improves and sharpens his skills. The last two
months have been very busy and the entire service
staff and culinary team have done fantastic!
I have received nothing but praise regarding our Golf
June 2012
Course conditions this season. I would strongly recommend
bringing friends to play in one of the Club’s
Men’s Guest Days, or hosting friends for a round of
golf. Chris Harriman’s efforts over the past two seasons
are, in my opinion, unparalleled. Recently, Jason
Marciniec, Head Golf Professional, hosted a group
from Oakmont Country Club. One of the guests was a
past Green Chair there, and commented that our
greens were “the best greens he has ever putted on.”
This is a strong, unsolicited endorsement and speaks
volumes on the job our Greens Staff has delivered.
Financially, the Club is having a very good year. Our
membership drive has delivered 32 new Golfing Members
and 28 new Social Members. Lynn Slupski, Membership
Marketing Director, continues to knock the
ball out of the park. Every new Member attends a
Membership Committee Meeting, at which, the Committee
meets the new Members and collectively we
answer any questions they may have. The new Members
frequently tell us that Lynn has given them a tremendous
amount of information and has been extremely
helpful. Our membership drive, fantastic
weather, outstanding Golf Course, dedicated staff and
fantastic members have resulted in revenues exceeding
the budget! From an expense standpoint, management
has done a great job only allowing budget
variances that have resulted from increased revenue.
Finally, I want to update you on the two new tennis
courts. The Club is working on resubmitting the waiver
request to the County. Several months ago we submitted
the request and were denied. The County had
numerous questions regarding the construction process
and plans. We have carefully answered the
County’s questions and plan to resubmit our waiver
request in the weeks ahead. Currently, we plan to secure
the permits and move forward on the project this
fall. As soon as I know the timetable for this project I
will share it with you. This has been a frustrating process
and I promise we are doing everything in our
power to resolve the matter to complete the courts!
