The half day workshop will review the Quality and <strong>Safety</strong> competencies for pre-licensure<br />

and graduate nursing programs and report on the experiences <strong>of</strong> schools who have implemented<br />

the competencies into their pre-licensure program. Speakers will address resources<br />

available to assist faculty in implementing quality improvement and patient safety science<br />

in classroom, learning laboratories and in clinical experiences.<br />

Conference Description:<br />

The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pennsylvania</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Nursing presents the 6th National <strong>Patient</strong> <strong>Safety</strong><br />

Conference. The aim <strong>of</strong> this year’s conference is to examine the link between disruptive<br />

behavior and patient safety. Presentations and discussions will focus on dissemination <strong>of</strong><br />

evidence-based practices to assist health care providers and organizations to develop and<br />

implement successful and innovative strategies for addressing intimidating and disruptive<br />

behavior and that promote a collaborative work environment. The conference will provide<br />

a forum for health care pr<strong>of</strong>essionals to exchange experiences and research related to health<br />

work environments, quality and patient safety. Poster sessions are intended to highlight the<br />

use <strong>of</strong> cutting edge patient safety models as they support the National <strong>Patient</strong> <strong>Safety</strong> Goals.<br />
