Introducing Our Spectacular Speakers<br />
Brigadier General Becky Halstead has been a chiropractic advocate for many years and continues in this role<br />
today as a spokesperson for The Foundation of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Progress, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to<br />
increasing public awareness of chiropractic.<br />
She graduated from West Point in 1981 as a U.S. Army Ordnance officer. She was the first female graduate of<br />
West Point to be promoted to General Officer. She was also the first female in U.S. history to command in combat at<br />
the strategic level by commanding the highest level organization for logistics (3rd Corps Support Command) in the<br />
Combat Theater of Iraq. Additionally, she is an experienced leader and logistician, effective communicator and<br />
strategic planner with exceptional organizational skills with over 15 years of executive level leadership experience<br />
developing and training high performing, complex and diverse teams capable of strategic planning and execution.<br />
Dr. Michael Dobbins has a thriving practice in the San Francisco Bay Area and is a post-grad faculty member at<br />
TCC. He is one of the most revered lecturers in health care and a lecturer in the field of nutrition and herbal therapy.<br />
Dr. Dobbins’ dynamic and easy-to-understand multimedia presentation on nutrition therapy enables health care<br />
professionals to integrate or expand an effective holistic, natural therapy program into their practice. Utilizing the<br />
breakthrough nutritional insights and products of Dr. Royal Lee, Dr. Dobbins illuminates the 100 years of research<br />
that has proven to result in the most effective nutrition therapy known today.<br />
Mr. Michael Taromina, Esq., is a graduate of Fordham University and has received his juris doctor from the City<br />
University of <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> Law School (CUNY). Michael is Chair of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture<br />
and Oriental Medicine’s Professional Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. For over a decade he has litigated,<br />
educated, advocated and authored for the advancement and protection of the AOM profession in the United States.<br />
During his career, Mr. Taromina has lectured before government officials, state regulators, practitioners, attorneys,<br />
vendors and students across the country and overseas.<br />
In addition, he received the 2008 AAAOM Award for Excellence and has assisted many states through their efforts<br />
to introduce and amend AOM legislation.<br />
Dr. Chris Colloca has proven to be a leader in the chiropractic forefront over the past decade. He transformed<br />
chiropractic instrument adjusting delivery with his inventions of the Impulse® and the Impulse iQ® Adjusting Instruments<br />
and technique applications in the Neuromechanical System®. His inspiring and practical lectures centered on<br />
chiropractic research have moved audiences throughout the U.S. and around the globe. Dr. Colloca has built international<br />
research collaborations with some of the top scientists and physicians abroad and his award-winning research<br />
has culminated in over 50 journal publications.<br />
Dr. Teresa M. Hoban is the Director of the Academy for Professional Success at <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> <strong>Chiropractic</strong> <strong>College</strong>. A<br />
1997 NYCC alumna, Dr. Hoban has owned and operated two successful chiropractic offices – one in Syracuse, N.Y.,<br />
and the other in her hometown of Penn Yan, N.Y. Prior to attending NYCC, Hoban earned a Bachelor of Science in<br />
Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia, in 1986, and a Master of Business Administration at Wilmington<br />
<strong>College</strong>, in Delaware, in 1994, and spent several years gaining insight into business and business management as a<br />
manager for production companies. Dr. Hoban’s expertise in both business and chiropractic is helping <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong><br />
<strong>Chiropractic</strong> <strong>College</strong> to meet the demand for business education as part of its curriculum.<br />
A member of the American Public Health Association, Dr. Hoban is a certified Physicians Coach and is in the<br />
process of obtaining certification for co-active coaching. In her capacity as Director of the Academy for Professional<br />
Success, she designed and is instructing a signature class in Business and Practice Management. She continues to<br />
develop programming for alumni and students that is engaging and relevant to today’s business environment.
Ms. Anna Allen, NCMIC professional relations representative, received her BSN in nursing from Grandview <strong>College</strong><br />
and her master’s degree in Nursing Education and Administration from Drake University.<br />
Prior to joining NCMIC, Ms. Allen was a medical fraud analyst supervisor for Unisys Corporation, head nurse/<br />
outreach coordinator/educator at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and emergency department R.N. Her specialties<br />
included care of the psychiatric and emergency room patient.<br />
She has conceived, planned and presented workshops nationally on health care fraud and care of chronically ill<br />
patients and given hundreds of other presentations throughout the U.S. Ms. Allen is an adjunct professor for post<br />
graduate education at National University of Health Sciences, and an adjunct assistant professor to the postgraduate<br />
and continuing education faculty of the <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> <strong>Chiropractic</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Dr. Mario Fucinari has helped train doctors and staff over the last 20 years. He received his bachelor’s degree<br />
from Wayne State University in Detroit and his Doctor of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> degree from Palmer <strong>College</strong> of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> in<br />
1986. After graduating from Palmer <strong>College</strong>, Dr. Fucinari completed studies in chiropractic orthopedics and attained<br />
his certification as a chiropractic sports physician.<br />
He currently practices full time in Decatur, Ilinois and is on the faculty and post-grad faculty at Logan <strong>Chiropractic</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>. Dr. Fucinari is a certified medical compliance specialist. He was the recipient of the 2003 President’s Award<br />
from the Illinois <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Society for his work with education and training.<br />
Dr. Lisa Bloom is a Fellow of the International Academy of Clinical Neurology. She holds a Diplomate and Board<br />
Certification from the International Board of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Neurology and a Diplomate in Applied <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Sciences.<br />
Dr. Bloom is a popular lecturer and has been the featured speaker at conferences in over 40 states in the US,<br />
as well as an invited speaker internationally.<br />
Dr. Bloom has lectured on topics in neurology in the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands. A multiple winner of the<br />
Faculty Excellence and Pride in <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Awards, Dr. Bloom served on the National Board of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Examiners<br />
Test Committee from 1999-2007. An examiner and lecturer for the International Academy of <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Neurology,<br />
Dr. Bloom currently serves as a Board Member of the International Academy of Neurology. Dr. Bloom is an<br />
Associate Professor in the Diagnosis Division of the Clinical Sciences Department of <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> <strong>Chiropractic</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Dr. David Graber, is a Certified <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Sports Physician as well as a Diplomate of the American <strong>Chiropractic</strong><br />
Board of Sports Physicians. Licensed in both <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> and <strong>New</strong> Jersey, he has been in private practice in <strong>New</strong> Jersey<br />
since 1987. He earned an associate degree in biology from Nassau Community <strong>College</strong> in 1982; holds a number of<br />
certifications, including hospital protocol and manipulation under anesthesia; and is a registered practitioner in<br />
biocranial therapy. Postgraduate studies include radiology, nutrition, TMJ dysfunction, stress management, kinesiology,<br />
and rehabilitation, among others. A former instructor of orthopedic diagnosis and chiropractic technique at<br />
NYCC, Graber has also been an instructor for the Sports <strong>Chiropractic</strong> Physician Diplomate Program Review. A large<br />
portion of his case load is devoted to sports and accident injuries and family practice.<br />
Ms. Caroline Radice has been studying and practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine with a specialty in Obstetrics<br />
and Gynecology since 1992. After receiving her BA in Psychology and Biology from Boston University, she received<br />
her Master’s training at the American <strong>College</strong> of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco and did post-graduate<br />
study at the Nanchang <strong>College</strong> of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanchang, China. She has been a faculty<br />
member at the Pacific <strong>College</strong> of Oriental Medicine, Mercy <strong>College</strong> Graduate Department of Oriental Medicine, Tri-<br />
State <strong>College</strong> of Acupuncture and Touro <strong>College</strong> Graduate Department of Oriental Medicine and has also given<br />
public and private lectures on Chinese Herbology, Acupuncture, and Fertility throughout the <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> area at areas<br />
diverse as the <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> Botanical Garden, Museums, Health Fairs, the Swedish Institute Continuing Education Program,<br />
and as a consultant to Life Magazine. She currently maintains private practices in <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> City and Short<br />
Hills, NJ and is Mom to two young daughters.<br />
Mr. Michael Jabbour earned his Masters degree from Touro <strong>College</strong> Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine<br />
(GPOM) in traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. During this time he has done extensive work in Chinese<br />
medical text translation. He is an active speaker on several circuits speaking on issues of technology, medicine, and<br />
politics pertaining to Traditional Chinese medicine.<br />
Mr. Jabbour is one of the founding directors of the <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> State Acupuncture Coalition and the current President<br />
of the Acupuncture Society of <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> (ASNY). He maintains a private practice in acupuncture and herbology<br />
in Forest Hills, <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong>.
