Another Kind of Blues<br />

Friends of Kennedy Museum is excited<br />

to present a concert to honor the Blues in<br />

Black & White exhibition on April 26th, at<br />

3 pm. <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>University</strong> Professor Emeritus<br />

Ernest Bastin will play the valve trombone,<br />

Lynn Sullivan will control the piano keys,<br />

and Norm Cohn, a tenor who serves on the<br />

Norm Cohn Friends of Kennedy Museum board, will<br />

perform several blues and blues-influenced songs while Dr.<br />

Richard Wetzel, <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>University</strong> Professor of Music History<br />

and Literature, will speak about the history and musical nature<br />

of the blues. This event is free and open to the public.<br />

The spring 2009 jewelry sale will be held at Kennedy<br />

Museum of Art during <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s Mom’s Weekend<br />

on Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd from 10 am to<br />

6 pm. The Mom’s Weekend sale features quality handmade<br />

pieces in varying price ranges including authentic jewelry<br />

affordable to<br />

together on this<br />

fundraising activity.<br />

FRIENDS SPECIAL EVENTS<br />

Margaret Thomas, Friends activities coordinator, and Matt<br />

Rapposelli, chairman of the Friends Trips Committee, have<br />

announced an exciting spring and fall program for the Friends.<br />

Thomas and Friends Board volunteers have set up an<br />

e-mail list to alert Friends members (and their friends) to<br />

programs, trips and other happenings.<br />

Sunday Afternoon Series<br />

A new series of concerts, speakers, and special events<br />

held on the last Sunday of the month begins on April 26th<br />

at 3 pm with Another Kind of Blues, coordinated by Norm<br />

Cohn. Watch your e-mail for future programs.<br />

Spring Quarterly Trip<br />

Join us for a day trip to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Burton J.<br />

Westcott House (www.westcotthouse.org) in Springfield,<br />

<strong>Ohio</strong> on Saturday, May 16. The trip will include a tour<br />

of the recently restored house and additional sites of<br />

interest in the area. For information, contact Margaret<br />

Out and About<br />

Do you have an idea for a small group outing? Friends<br />

of Kennedy Museum will make the arrangements and<br />

provide information and transportation. Possibilities for<br />

the spring are Columbus Museum of Art for the current<br />

exhibition, To Live Forever; the 2009 Decorators’ Show<br />

House; or a walking tour of German Village.<br />

Brown Bag talks and demonstrations<br />

Coming this fall, these one-hour art events at Kennedy<br />

Museum of Art will appeal to the lunchtime crowd.<br />
